  • good, comfortable skates
Bought these for my husband now that he comes skating with me once a week. He's been using them for a couple months and they've worked out fine. By skate standards they are quite comfortable and they seem to be quite sturdy for general skating. I don't know that they have enough support for double jumps, but they are certainly sturdy enough for beginning jumps. Because a couple other reviewers mention the toe pick, I'm just going to say that it is properly placed...if you are catching it on the ice (which you might if you are used to cheaper, recreational blades that have an incorrectly placed toe pick), your weight is too far towards your toes. Put more weight on your heels. The only complaint we had was that we used the sizing guide in the pictures and the suggested pair were way too large. We had to return them for a smaller size. There was no exchange option, only return, so I had to re-buy the smaller size and instead of returning the money it stayed in limbo for a few days while I re-bought the skates. The money ultimately showed up in my account as amazon credit. It's fine, since I buy enough stuff on amazon that I will eventually use the credit, but I would have preferred an exchange option or a prompt repayment to my credit card. ... show more

  • Exactly what I was looking for.
I was looking for something affordable for skating a few times a year where rentals aren't easily accessible. My only complaint on the design is the little lace hooks are way too tight which are very difficult to hook the top lace into and back out. I think the laces will probably fray quickly but again I'm a very light user. But the skates fit just fine. Tips on sizing. I have a wide flat foot and finding things to fit without trying on is like playing the lottery. Based on the useless sizing chart it said I should get a size 9, or a size 12 depending on if you look at the length vs width. I normally wear about a 10/10.5 in normal shoes, and it recommended going down a size? I went up to an 11 and they fit just fine if not a hair snug in the footbox, but still provide good heel snugness. Go with your instincts if you have wide feet. ... show more

  • Very comfortable skate... roller-blade like feel.
This is the most comfortable ice skate I've ever owned. Padded like a roller blade boot. Good support. Warm on the ice. No break in required. My only complaint... most boot straps have a lever buckle to clasp and tighten them. This pair does not... you have to pull the strap tight by hand, which leads me to believe this strap will eventually break. Nevertheless, no regrets in buying these skates. I'm just a casual skater, and these are perfect for me. ... show more

  • Comfortable and Durable
These skates are extremely comfortable and true to size. My friend loves them. They also come with guards to protect the blades and a velcro latch to secure the top of your skates. With these skates, you can go extremely fast and also control the speed at which you skate. I would highly recommend them. Also, they stay clean no matter how much you use them since they're black. These are really great skates and a reasonable price! Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great skate for the novice
I am an adult learning to skate and I purchased these skates on the recommendation of another adult in my class. He told me that these skates are as close to a tennis shoe on a blade as you can get and he was dead on. The skates do seem heavier than most figure skates, but the additional padding and sturdy build more than make up for the additional weight. Again, these skates are perfect for an adult learning to skate. I have only been using them for about a month and they are not completely broken in, but I felt strong right of the bat and very comfortable on my second session with the skates. Toe pick is a little bigger/longer than some skates, in my case the rental skates. That is taking a little while to get use to, but not a big enough reason to not recommend these skates. ... show more

  • Well built with good ankle support.
I am a learner / beginner for ice skating. Decided to buy a skate rather than rent one for each training session. The pro shop at the venue recommended buying ones with good ankel support - This one, gives me very good ankle support and feels solid. The fit was good ( it was quite dic=fficult to get my size too ) - but i am quite glad i got this. IT feels solidly built, and gives good ankle suppport. ... show more

  • Was nice, not for long.
Very nice skates. Go with your shoe size. I got 11's, my shoe size 10.5. A bit too big. Should have gone with 10.5. Update 12/13/2017. After 5 or 6 times on the ice 2 pins attaching the blade to the shoe got lose and now the blade is moving. I am not sure what to do. Afraid to use it as it is now.
