I got these first, to try the "Beef Bars", since I like both jerky, and the dried smoked sausages. Second, I had the intention of having some foods on hand that would not require refrigeration, since it *is* hurricane season in the Gulf Coast, and Harvey is still on our minds. The only "problem" is that I don't know how ling I'll be able to RESIST these, LOL!!! I tried one as soon as I opened the delivery box, and these are seriously good... I personally like the Original Flavor; I've had other flavors of Jack Link's jerky, and my favorite remains the Original, and it's just as tasty in these Strips as it is in the jerky and the sausages ;) There are 12 individual 1-oz/28-gm packets (servings) in the box. I read that the usual ratio of jerky to fresh beef is that there is a 60% loss of weight when the water is removed (through drying) from the fresh beef. So a 1-oz serving of dried beef should be roughly equivalent to 3 oz of fresh beef. I was especially glad to have caught a bit of a sale price - working out the nutritional equivalent, plus the preservation and the long (18-month) "best by" date, I'm quite happy with this purchase. So, in case of another bad hurricane emergency, these are great things to keep on hand! And if we're lucky and don't have any bad hurricanes this year, these will *still* be delicious ;) ... show more

It's incredibly hard to find beef jerky that's gluten free. We travel a lot and I always have a bag of snacks of some sort in the truck with us. (It's kinda hard to roll through a fast food drive-thru when we're towing 40+ ft of RV!) To find healthy snacks is sometimes difficult and fruit gets a little tired. When I found these I was really happy. Whether we're hiking and packing a lunch or traveling between campgrounds I know that I can pack these without worrying about the gluten, the taste or the simple ease of just throwing some in my backpack. These are great, for several reasons: 1. The only bad thing in these is salt. So yes, if you are sodium sensitive, these are NOT for you. But if not? Each pack satisfies hunger, has only 50 calories, and is packed with protein. Seriously, you could do much worse. 2. See point 1. 3. 12 packages in the box. 4. Pretty tasty, all things considered. Not the best jerky in the world but for prepackaged long shelf life jerky, it's pretty ok. 'Nuff said. ... show more

This product is so unbelievably salty that it's practically inedible. Now, I am fully aware of the fact that most other beef jerky and beef stick type products are quite salty, but this is far beyond the usual salt/sodium level of any such products I've tried. This isn't merely a subjective taste perception on my part, but let me back it up with objective facts, which should be alarming to any health-conscious individual: an 1-oz serving of this product contains 640 mg of sodium, which is a whopping 27% of the DV (Daily Value). In other words, a mere 1 oz of this product, which is literally only a few bites, contains nearly 1/3 of the sodium that the FDA recommends that an average adult consumes the entire day. In comparison with a similar product of the same size, the Original Beef Stick by Lorissa's Kitchen, an 1-oz serving contains 330 mg of sodium, which is 14% of the Daily Value. Mind you, the latter product is already quite salty, on the higher end of most people's sodium threshold, and yet the sodium content in this Jack Link's product is just shy of DOUBLE that of the Lorissa's Kitchen product. Incredible, and incredibly disappointing. This is very unfortunate because I had a positive impression of Jack Link's before trying this product, and I had high hopes for it. I had even added it to my "Subscribe & Save" orders here on Amazon... but I promptly cancelled this subscription after I tasted it and found out how ridiculously and dangerously salty it was. By the way, I've worked for the better part of 20 years as a R&D Food Scientist, and I am also a former Registered Dietitian, so I definitely know what I am talking about when it comes to taste, flavor, health, nutrient levels, etc. ... show more

Jack Link's is a brand we have come to trust in flavor and they have several different varieties of texture. This kind happens to be a favorite of my husband's, my son and I like them as well but they aren't our favorites. Seems everyone in my household has a different type they like. These are soft but not as soft as a beef stick and not as hard as beef Jerky, they are right in the middle. They are a great size to throw in my husband's lunchbox for a quick snack and there are enough (12) to last for a while as he doesn't eat them everyday. These are a bit salt heavy but having them as a special snack here and there makes it nice. They're a great size snack too, not too much or too little, just enough to keep you going. Came as a whole pack in a small box, each stick is wrapped individually.

What a happy find this was! Excellent flavor, great price, tender cuts of nicely jerked steak. We had them for backpacking, for just snacks while watching tv. So good! My son even cooked with some of them! Highly recommend!!

I get these all the time and love them, but this last package had an awful chemical taste and we couldn’t eat them. They aren’t eligible for a replacement which is too bad. Not sure I’ll risk another batch.
