The media could not be loaded. This is a laser engraver/cutter. It has a 420mm square work surface. I'm super impressed with it. The instructions are a bit brief, but the setup and PC connectivity are not very difficult. They have handy links to instructional videos which are helpful. I was able to engrave some pictures the same day I took it out of the box. If you are running windows 11 you may need to google how to add com ports for serial connections. On the mac you will need to google how to change the usb serial baud rate. This is a "beginner" unit meaning It does not come with a tracking camera and it has only 2 axes, X axis & Y axis (meaning you can only work on flat objects) which is perfect for me. I've been doing all kinds of fun stuff with it - as you can see from the pics. The instructions walk you through the assembly and software installation of Laser GRBL (win-only freeware) and Lightburn (multi-platform, licensed software). I've used both now and the engraver works well with either. Whether you use LaserGRBL or some other program, give yourself time to learn it. LaserGRBL has a handy material database which gives you ideas about how to set the laser settings (power, speed and number of passes) for all kinds of material. I love this thing. It's my new favorite toy and I come up with new uses for it every day. I haven't had any issues with operation of the unit at all. Most of my struggles have been just learning the software. Great value. Totally recommended.

The laser works fine once it is setup and you find a program. Building the frame wasn’t too hard but not simple either, extra set of hands would be helpful and a large table, long needle nose pliers or tweezers to thread the drive belts. The suggested programs are not user friendly, we found lightburn which finally got us working. After a couple tutorials we were burning. The biggest issue is finding a program you can use and the medium difficulty assembly.

The media could not be loaded. This is my second laser engraver, however, my first was only a 500mw laser, not capable of cutting. I am VERY impressed with how easy this was to build, and how well it has performed for me. I've been a 3d printing enthusiast for many years, and just like those, take your time on the build, and TRIPLE check your connections and belt tensions! The belt should be tight enough to easily move the carriage along the FULL length of the axis stop-to-stop without binding or skipping. Do not overtighten it, nor leave it so loose it skips teeth. Then, once you have it assembled, use the included piece of acrylic to perfectly offset the laser from your work piece. Make sure you have your work piece sitting on a SAFE material - since you will end up needing to cut into it for many designs. This laser is powerful, and will cut wooden coasters with EASE - easily cutting through my 4mm wood. If you are using Laser GRBL, make sure to change the laser mode from M3 to M4 for engraving, or it will BURN your material! Otherwise, follow along the steps in the included build video on the USB stick in the toolbox. Their video is basic, but shows you most all you need to know, including setting up Lightburn or Laser GRBL. I've attached a video of running the test cut pattern. This engraver/cutter has exceeded my expectations, and I expect to get a lot of use from this. As of the time of this review, it's priced under $160, making it also an excellent value. Check out my photo and video for real-world examples of the performance.
