A small diamond fell off and was lost from my mother's wedding band some years ago, she never got around to having it replaced. She kept it in a blue velvet box meant for a small necklace or bracelet. She and my father were married in 1944, he passed away in 2007. I found an excellent jewelry repair business not far from my house.who not only replaced the diamond but cleaned the ring so that it sparkled. I wanted the ring to be presented to my mother against a black background and facing up, rather than laying flat so she would get the full effect of the beautiful job the jeweler did. This box survived a trip all the way from Hawaii to Japan, traveling for ten days in my backpack, withstanding bumping and jostling the whole time. The ring I used to propose was her grandmother's, a family heirloom and this ring box held it securely and tightly. The little light at the top is fantastic for illuminating the diamond and making the entire ring sparkle. The box itself has a rubberized coating on the outside and a hard plastic shell. Inside is a soft black lining and a single crease to insert the ring. As you can see my ring was a bit tall and pointy, and the roof of the box had more than enough clearance to hold the ring. This is a great addon if you want to give your gift pop. I was sceptical at first thinking it will be sub-par but it went beyond my expectations. I had a necklace, earrings and a bracket I needed to gift. Out of the box, it was really made for displaying a necklace and a ring perhaps. I made a few holes with a pin to accommodate the earrings and cut-out small notches towards the bottom to allow the bracket wrap around the display. Very easy and looks great! The material is velvet like so be sure to keep clean because it attracts fuzz, animal fur (I.e. cat/dog hair) but a quick run with a sticky roller will clean them right up. I just received this box today and it is a total disappointment and complete waste of money...lights didn't come on, box wouldn't close completely and the inside looked like it was torn up and pushed down.

I got this for a relatively inexpensive set of earrings as a gift. If they were any more expensive, I would definitely go for a better box. But this was the next step up from just giving them in their original cardboard box. I'd say it's passable for earrings, but just barely for a set of dangly earrings. They barely fit so this would be much better for stud earrings or other small jewelry pieces. For just a few bucks it improves the presentation a lot, so I'd say it's worth it. ... show more
