I had a really bad infestation of mustard (or yellow) algae. I mean it was all over the walls and the water so foggy you couldn't see the main drains! I used this stuff along with McGrayel Algatec - brushed down the walls a couple of times a day, and within a couple of days had crystal clear water. It took a few more days and a couple more applications along with more brushing to completely clear it off the walls, vacuum, hose, everything. Very impressed with this stuff and would recommend to anyone having problems with algae, especially in these warmer months. Don't forget to disinfect any pool toys and wash any clothes that were in the pool before it was clean. You'll just introduce that s..t back into it. ... show more

Prices for pool chemicals have gotten so out of hand the past few years. I heard a major chlorine plant burned down a few year back, but by now everyone should be up to speed. Very tired of manufacturers blaming the pandemic for their escalating greed. So, this Pool Shock (70% chlorine) seemed a really good value. However, it doesn't dissolve as well as the premium brand I had been using. It settles in areas and over-bleaches my plaster in those spots. Even with my filter motor cranked up I have to return an hour or two later to brush the bottom of the pool to redistribute it. The blue tint to the powder is helpful for this. My pool water went to pot while I was away for 50 days; it became full of algae. I used four 1lb bags of pool shock to the 12,000 gallon pool. Next morning the chlorine content was off the chart, unreadable, but the water was pristine, and still is a week later.
