  • Printer error! First 22 pages are entirely the wrong book!
So I got a good ways in wondering what the hell Imbolc had to do with Theological Discernment... I thought well this is very open minded of the authors of these books to invite a Judeo-Christian perspective to this pagan holiday. I haven’t seen anything like that in prior issues. I also have the books in this series for Yule, Mabon and Samhain. I’ve been working my way through and collecting the set. But yeah... so I’m reading what is essential some form of Christian stereo instructions wondering why... why am I reading this? What does this have to do with Imbolc? And then around the bottom of page 22 the sentence ends cleanly and at the top of the next page it begins with an incomplete sentence. I look back and forth a couple of times before realizing I have been bamboozled into reading the most boring 22 pages I have ever read in my life because they don’t even belong in the this book! The first 22 pages are a misprint. I’m going to attempt to contact Llewelyn directly and see if they’ll send me a proper version for free because I don’t want to return this. I earned this stupid book. It wasted a solid hour of my life. I’d rather use it for kindling than go through the hassle of sending it back to Amazon. ... show more

  • First 25pgs from a different book
The first 25 pages are the WRONG BOOK. Starts with a book called Discernment and then cuts to the familiar Llewellyn Old Ways section. I returned and got a new one, and it’s still wrong. Won’t be returning again not worth the hassle.

  • Didn’t have high expectations, understandably
I’m always hesitant to buy any Llewellyn publication because they tend to have a ton of research & historical inaccuracies that directly conflict with archeological findings & leading guesses. I just started thumbing through this one & in the Deities section it lists Inanna as Hausa/West African. Inanna is a Babylonian goddess first worshipped in Sumer (modern day southern Iraq). Her equivalent in Hausa practices would be the goddess Zamani. The fact non European magic is given so little attention but then when it is, the information is wrong & not even the right area? ... show more

  • MUST HAVE for level 0 and a great add to grimore for additional meaning
Great reference book for those in the Craft. I liked that it explained the reason and rational of the holiday. It also give some great recipes and crafts you can make for the holiday. Whoever made it a spring holiday in the middle of February is either mentally challenged or living in Australia! But overall, it’s a great add to you grimore. I ordered all of the holiday books by the author. She breaks down the holiday and gives the meaning behind them; a nice way to connect with your Spirit and others may come along for the ride! ... show more

  • Cute read
Very nice little book on imbolc. It was my goal to finish this before the holiday to get some ideas for this year’s celebration. This has everything from the history behind it to modernized holidays like groundhogs day and Mardi Gras on why it is celebrated and how it goes along with old time imbolc. It has a few crafts and maybe 3/4 recipes. Very nice interesting read. I plan to buy all the other holiday books as well now to read them to get more ideas and learn more of the history. ... show more

  • Very useful.
i love the books in this series as they give so much information that I didn't know before. Great for anyone who was new to Paganism or was an experienced hand and just wanted a fresh perspective.

  • Excellent
So much useful information. I bought the set and each one tells you about that specific sabbat in detail. The first couple pages are all the same. Fun crafts and food and of course the good stuff. Wasn’t expecting it to be as many pages, but couldn’t put it down.

  • Informative
I love this series of books. They are so informative and provide so much in the way of celebrating the sabbats with Judy you or with a group. I'm definitely going to try the lovers ritual with my husband and boyfriend this year.
