  • Practical, versatile, stylish
Size: 35 EU/5 M US Color: Beige
I had been searching for rain boots for literally years now, but until recently I had never seen any that I actually wanted to buy. They are all about the same: smelly rubber or plastic, with a chunky duckbill-shaped toe, and then a large shapeless calf that cuts off right at the worst place on your leg. Why are they so tacky? Maybe I'm picky, but if I'm going to spend money on rain boots, I really want them to be stylish just like any other pair of shoes that I put on my feet, not just big hunks of plastic. Then I saw these and I was obsessed because this is exactly what I had been looking for -- rain boots that don't look like rain boots. I'm glad I finally found these, because even on Amazon they are hard to find. I've been wearing them for about a week now. They are surprisingly lightweight for rubber boots, about one pound each. I never noticed any kind of rubber odor at all. The soles are made of foamy material and the insides are lined with cotton fleece. They're easy to put on and take off, like slippers. They are handmade in Denmark and well-constructed. They definitely look like they could withstand years of heavy use, unlike the cheaply made rain boots you see everywhere that are just glued together and can come apart. They're easy to wipe off and keep clean. I am planning to polish them with silicone oil every once in a while to keep them looking like new. The best thing about them, obviously, is that they really are waterproof. I stomped through puddles, walked through muddy fields, and gave my dog a bath, and my feet were warm and dry the whole time. As for the fit, I would recommend ordering a half-size down from the size you normally wear. I'm usually a size 5.5 so I ordered a 5 and they are perfect. They do have extra room in them for thick boot socks or liners. If you wear them with normal socks, your feet will slide around. They look great paired with leggings or skinny jeans. The only thing I don't like about these boots is that the sole is made of foam so they are a little more slippery on wet concrete than I was expecting. In the Amazon description, they mention how much traction they give you, but actually if you are walking on a slick surface you kind of need to be careful. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend them for an older person or someone with balance or mobility issues. I've heard that spraying the soles with hairspray makes them a little stickier, so I'm going to give that a try. Other than that, I am very satisfied. ... show more

  • If you're in between sizes, go a size DOWN! Cute, but could have better traction.
Size: 9 Color: Black
I just received these in the mail, and I was SO excited to find this style on sale, as I've had my eye on these Ilse Jacobsen boots for 2 years now. I got especially envious when I started seeing these pop up at Madewell. I always debated between Hunter, which everyone has, and Jacobsen which is uniquely Scandinavian and never made a decision. I love Danish design and I think subconsciously was holding out to get a deal, not knowing how they would fit. Here's how I would sum up the fit and design. 1) Go a size down for a snug fit, or go true to size for extra room. I am a size 8.5 and ordered a 39 (a size 9) which is way too big barefoot. However, they fit nicely with very thick knit winter socks. 2) The boot ankle height opening is a bit too large too, so I'll have to tie the top up tight for a proportional fit to my skinny ankles. Again, they will fit better with thick socks and maybe pants tucked in. 3) The bottom sole is cheap with minimal grooves :/ these boots will probably not provide enough traction for winter snow and ice. I bought these for Chicago and New York winters, and a trip to Stockholm. I'm not sure how they will fair. For the half the retail price I scored the size 39 for, I am going to keep them. And hope they are durable enough for the weather they were designed for. If your size isn't on sale right now, keep checking back. I've noticed the pricing for each size and color varies and fluctuates randomly. ... show more

  • Would be 5 stars if they came in half sizes
Size: 9 Color: Pink
I wear a US size 8, usually size 38.5 in EU sizing, and got these in size 39 in the bright pink color (and the black RUB15s and the camel RUB1s - these boots are that nice). For just slogging around the house, taking the dog out etc., I can get away sock-less or with regular socks, but if I'm going to be walking a lot, I have to wear two pairs of socks to keep my heels from rubbing since they are a half size too big. These seem to be very well designed and made: fully lined, easy to clean, and no leakage so far. The tongue has a multi-fold overlapping system that I presume will keep water out pretty well even if you step in a deep puddle, but I haven't actually tried it. The fit is somewhat adjustable due to the laces, but it's still a little big for me throughout, even with skinny jeans tucked in. The laces make them so easy to get on and back off again without getting your hands wet and muddy. Overall, these are surprisingly comfortable. The first time I wore them I walked around a flea market for three hours with no issues. Like all rain boots, they're pretty clunky; I certainly wouldn't drive in these. My only problem with these boots is that I'd expect them to come in half sizes for a perfect fit at this price. ... show more

  • Rain in the forecast; no need to stay indoors
Size: 10 Color: Grey
These boots are perfect for walking the dog or whatever you need to do in weather. I just bought a larger size so I can wear them with thick socks because rain and cold often go together in CA.
