I didn't buy this for a room, but for my cubicle at work. The lights shine directly into my eyes and it's been giving me headaches. Other employees have shades over their desks, so I started my search. I found that this is even better than what most others use. Everyone else has a blade shade and it makes their cubicle really dark. I don't mind the dark, but I do need to be able to see what I'm doing. Not on the computer, but for other aspects of my job. I absolutely love this product. And that IKEA bed canopy has many uses. I’ve been in office 8 to 10 hours a day and was leaving work a lot because I was having headaches they had just switched the bulbs above my desk and it was making me sick. I was getting headaches due to the brightness on the overhead lights in my cubicle at work. I started with an umbrella and then the lightbulb went on, how about a canopy?? And…. Voila!! Huge help, even get complements all the time!!

The overhead lighting in my office cubicle was creating a lot of eye strain. I put this up and TA DA- no more eye strain. Just a beautiful shade while I work on my computer. Its very large ( check dimensions) so I ran the full length of the overhead florescent light. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is two fold 1. IKEA has this same shade for 14.95 - even with shipping to me - it would have been far less than the 30.99 I paid. I feel this could have had a more reasonable price tag. ( Sold out when I tried to purchase @IKEA) 2. The pockets to insert the rods are EXTREMELY hard to locate- but with time and a few friends we were able to slide all the rods in ... show more

Far too big for me, as it's nearly 5'0 and I don't have that large a cubicle. It works as should but I can't use it for myself. Putting the leaf together was frustrating as well - there's no hints where to find the dang holes for the bars and there's not enough give to keep it from being lost once found. ... show more

My work desk faces a wall of windows, so I was starting to get headaches from the contrast of my screens to the sun right in my face. I bought this canopy and WOW, I feel so much better! I was worried when I bought this on how I could mount it to my desk, since I don't have a cubicle or any walls to mount it to. Fortunately, this leaf works great even with it just propped up against my desk, as shown in the picture.     • Great item to add some fun to a cubicle environment!
My cubicle is right under a very bright light. Working on a computer all day, it was starting to strain my eyes. I had seen it at IKEA before in the kids section, and had seen them in cubicles in other areas (more for decoration). I ordered it with the sole purpose of blocking the light. After looking around at cubie tents and the possibility of putting up an umbrella (bad luck - eeek) - I decided to give this a try. The price was right - and it is festive. Being from IKEA, it was compact (so easy to bring into work) and it was easy to put together. It is the perfect size to block the light above. The mount that it came with did not work with my cubicle walls (since it is supposed to screw into the wall) - so I had to be a bit creative to put it up. I ended up sliding it down between the cubicle wall and my dry erase board, which seems sturdy enough for now! Not only does it do the trick, but it is also a bit of a conversation starter. It also makes my cubicle easy to find (not sure if that is always a good thing - LOL :-)). ... show more
