UPDATE: I’ve been cycling water using this system for almost a year now with no problem. No leaks, no broken seams, nada. Weather forecast predicts temps at 100+ degrees for the next two weeks (and likely longer). I would buy more of these water jugs if I had a place to put them but that’s the anxiety talking . . . system works the way it should. I moved to Tucson in April 2022 and after 2 years of COVID and having survived a derecho in Iowa no way in h*** was I going to live in the desert without an emergency water supply. It took 4 months and a lot of Amazon research but I finally settled on these 6-gallon Igloo water jugs for indoor storage of my emergency drinking water supply (I also have a 55-gallon drum of non-drinking water that I keep outside). I like them because there’s no chemical smell, and because I can store them upright without putting pressure on the seal that might cause leaks over time. I switched out Igloo’s highly phallic pour-spouts for the red gas caps which seem to have a much stronger seal, and also followed the directions posted by another reviewer for how to drill one of those caps to insert a spigot that lets me transform the storage container into an accessible water source for every-day use. This system allows me to cycle through the stored water so it never sits for more than a few months at a time.

I bought a portable AC unit for the bedroom above the garage. The home is in a hot humid climate and did a good job making the room livable. Unfortunatly the humidity ment that I would have to carry two one gallon jugs full of water down the stairs multipul times a day. I also had to turn off the unit if I needed to leave the house for more than a couple of hours because depending the water would overflow if I wasn't there to empty it. Needless to say that got old very quickly... I needed a bigger "jug". After searching many options I chose this 6 gallon water container because it was rigid and has handles placed is a manner which make it easy to carry and empty. I'm very happy with my purchase. On average I only have to carry this down the stairs twice a day. If I go out I make sure to empty it before I leave and I get to come home to a nice cool room.

We have a travel trailer with a 30 gallon water tank - not enough for a 2 week trip in a campground where we have to lug water from a pump especially when we are taking showers in the trailer. The upside of this water container is that it has a handle on the side to help lift it up to fill the water tank on the trailer. It is also fillable using the same water filter we use to fill the tank on the trailer, so we can filter the water before putting it into the trailer. The downside is that as a 6 gallon container, it weighs over 50 lbs when full, so it is hard to lift up high enough to fill the trailer. We solve that problem by sliding our cooking table under it to help take the weight. My husband can manage it when full. I usually only fill it half full and make more trips. We already had another 5 gallon container, but this one is easier to use because of the handle on the side to help lift it. This was a good purchase for the money.

Just received. No leaks, the smell wasn't to strong. As others have mentioned, this is not for sitting on its side as designed. You can mod it to allow that, but for all that effort, just get a different container. I plan on using this to store emergency water at home, so no big deal because it will be upright all the time. It's designed to store the spout inside the water, but I don't need it, so I took the circular gasket off the spout and added it to the round cap insert. My only issue is that the mating surface that this gasket should seal isn't even. there is excess plastic that was never removed from the molding process, so this will never seal. I used a sharp knife to remove the excess, and now when I tighten the cap, it can seal correctly. the two handles are really nice too for moving it around, a feature not often seen. if I was recommending upgrades to Igloo it would be to make a screw in vent, and mold in clear plastic strips up the side and top (like on a motor oil jug), so you can see water level. also, some quart and gallon tick marks would be nice.

Made in the USA - the bottom of each container has the number 2 thing on it. When one buys a 16 ounce plastic water bottle it has a cap with threads all the way around it. These bottles have threads but they do not go all the way around but they secure very tight the trick though to easily get the cap to thread on is to notice the two nipples on each side of the white cap (these can be used to tie string or something to secure the cap if you want) and line up the two nipples with the non threaded area of the blue container and then the cap easily goes on and tightens; otherwise it just may spin round and round. The picture indicates the nozzle end has a cap on it none of mine came with a cap. The relief valve works great because it cannot be lost it is to be pulled up to where nice air flow channel is visible in the valve it does not pull out but so far so no worries that this is going to pop off it does not thread on but just pushes down to close it.

I bought these for our family to use on a week long camping trip to stops without potable water. Boy did they hold up to the task! We hauled two of them filled on the back of our cargo rack over 1,000 miles in the heat of Arizona and Utah. No signs of wear. I was very pleased that they came with an easy to install and use spout. The flat rectangular shape made them easy to store. The only thing I would change about the product is to add a tether to the cap plug. It's small and easy to lose. Once that's gone you have no way to keep your container closed. Definitely a must have for camping and well worth the money!

I have had this now for over 2 years and they are still working great! One of the six that I have did develop a crack in the lid, but it only leaks when pouring.
