I really like this camera slider. Let's review It strengths and weaknesses. For strengths, it's extremely easy to program, with just a couple buttons on it, or you can get much more detailed by using the app. Move it from one point to another with as many spins as you want by simply pressing the AB button along with the play pause at the same time, then move it to position one and press AB, then to position two and press Ab again. Next you'll click play pause which moves into position, then press it again to begin. You can adjust the speed beforehand or as it moves along. It moves extremely smoothly, and you can make it move quite fast, or at 1% speed, it takes 1 minute 48 seconds to travel full distance. They've simplified the design and made it quite light by only having motors within the moving carriage, and not on the ends. There's a thin rubber belt, like you'd find at the front of a car engine, which the motors use to propel it forward or back. Battery life is quite good, and you can plug it in if needed. Finally, it adds some really engaging motion to otherwise static shots, which will make your video much more interesting. And because it's programmed motion, you can use it for trick shots like combining multiple shots where you're standing in a different position, making it look like there are several of you at once. Now for the limitations, none of which are serious. The most obvious one is that it's quite short. You'll want to use this fairly close up to your subject, or at least have some object in the foreground to create a parallax effect. If everything is 10 feet or more away from the camera, it makes a small difference but it's hard to notice. Second, notice that the ARCA Swiss plate is slightly specialized, thanks to the button which releases it. So you can't just use any old ARCA Swiss plate with it, because they might get stuck on that release point. I discovered this with an osmo pocket 3 stand, which I initially only slid on until it hit that release pin, but then it slipped past that point, and I had to pull pretty hard on it to get it off. This wouldn't have been a problem if it gripped it by widening the grip as most arca Swiss settings do, but instead, the little lever merely raises one edge a tiny bit. And lastly, $200 isn't exactly cheap, but then again, it's a lot cheaper than the competition. If you think you'll use this a lot, then it's definitely worth it. And unless you have a heavy camera, the basic Pico is good enough, and you don't need to pay another $100 for the Pro.

Really easy to use slider with good documentation and very smooth action. It's very quiet compared to some other smaller sliders I have over here, and the movement side to side and panning is really smooth. It's easy to program without the app, but a lot more powerful if the app is used as there's a few more options the app provides. Despite being not as "Portable" as the pro version since it has metal rails instead of carbon fiber, it's barely noticeable. I have a section below comparing the pico normal versus pro that will have more detail. What's really neat about the slider is it doesn't just have to be a camera on it. It's possible to use a video light on it for macro shoots. It's strong enough to handle smaller light panels. Battery life is good and works well. It charges quick also. It's also possible to run it with a battery pack going to it. Just be sure to have a cable that doesn't snag. Cost wise compared to other sliders off roughly the same size, the Pico is more expensive, but I find the extra value comes in how easy it is to use, the led interface that does show relevant information. I've also contacted Ifootage support for other reasons before and they have incredible service that was super helpful. Compared to the pro: There are some things the standard and pro share like the same length rails, same movement options in the app and on screen, same battery size, and both have pop out legs. All the accessories like case and phone holder are the same also. There are some differences that I feel don't matter. Like the carbon fiber rails on the pro, and the ifootage logo emblazed on the pro and not on the standard. Here are some of reasons to consider the pro over the standard - Amazingly useful color lcd that does have more useful info. It will show how much time is let on the current movement. Despite not being overly large, it shows a lot of details and having the color helps reading it a lot easier. Funny enough though the standard shows current battery% where the pro doesn't. - The pocket 3 is natively supported on the pro, and it's neat being able to have 4 axis of movement. There is an adapter for the standard though that could be purchased. - Does support nearly a pound more.

The iFootage Shark Slider Pico is a great tool for content creators that use small action cameras like DJI Action, GoPro, Osmo Pocket, etc... The slider comes assembled out of the box, with a charging cable and a tripod plat with a phone holder. The whole thing is made mostly of metal which keep the unit grounded well and no doubt contributes to its durability. Unlike some devices in this spectrum, this one is made of what looks like cut steel, which is a bit heavier and rougher to the touch than the more common aircraft or anodized aluminum - either way this is a minor observation and carries no bearing on the functionality of the device. Refreshingly this is a battery operated device, which means that you don't have to plug it in to use it -- this makes it very portable and useful anywhere. There is one unusual but useful connection you do have to make and that is connecting via USB to your camera. This enables the unit and camera to be operated from one single app. Another cool thing about this slider is that you can tap it for NFC connectivity with Bluetooth and a QR code on the device will also point you to useful manual information. Setting up this device is not hard, with a few button presses on the device you can set this up in moments and while using your phone or action cam, the whole set up is manageable without having to accommodate heavy rigs and such. One nice addition is the spring loaded feet, that allow you to deploy this from packed form to use form in nano seconds. One press of the buttons on either side snaps the legs out immediately giving you a steady and solid landing for the device, which should be used on a flat and level surface. Also of inmense utility are the two screw holes for tripod or pole adaptation. These allow you to screw on a tripod plate or place on a light stand for height adjusted positioning. Sliders can greatly increase your footage value by providing smooth, slow or fast motion to your shots. The PICO is the smallest of a wider line up of these offered by iFootage and I find their products to be of very good quality. One observation is that in the listing photo there seems to be a charging brick and cable - in my box I only received the cable and attachments, so I am not sure if they are shipping with the brick or mine just didn't get one. Either way, I have enough bricks laying around that this was not so much an issue for me, but you may want to check your box for contents just to be sure.

The iFootage Shark Slider Pico Pro has lots of features to make your production easier. It's portable and packs down so you can easily bring it to wherever you need to go such as film shoots, studio shoots, and travel. This thing is super sturdy. The body is built out of solid metal. When I'm sliding around my phone, GoPro or lightweight mirrorless camera, the slider glides and doesn't feel cheap. The time it takes to set-up the slider is next to nothing. It only takes a few seconds to get your camera from point A to point B. The footage of my camera moving across the slider looks very smooth. I could have gotten similar footage if I was simply holding my camera in my hands. One of the most impressive things to me about this product is the app. This app gives you many new ways to enhance what you're capable of doing with your slider. Not only will you be able to set multiple stops (i.e. add points of motion), but you'll also be able to program much more complex motion control than you'd ever be able to do by hand. I thought the app was pretty intuitive to learn. Another great feature I loved was the battery life. The Pico Pro lasts for hours after just being charged once, and charging via USB-C is quick enough that I never worried about running low on power. In addition to the tripod mount, there are also folding feet available for different mounting situations. Things I didn't love about this product were, some of the functions took a little trial and error for me, and while the motor provides a very smooth glide, it is loud enough to be heard in an environment that is normally dead quiet. Lastly, for bigger or heavier cameras, I think it is worth considering purchasing a sturdier tripod to get the best results.

So i'm trying to get into more item photography being in this vine program as well as having a photography background. And with the evolution of the mobile camera , it has improved significantly, so your images can be done in better resolution and quality. I use my mobile phone for a lot of photography right now. Because it's convenient. So I never actually thought about something like this, and I think it is a really neat concept, and it does work and works well. However , this one being it's more entry level does not have all the features that I think would come in more handy. Especially in terms of if you want to take your photo in a certain way. I was quite pleasantly surprised that is quite light and more portable feeling, I had expected it to be heavier and bulkier. I also have a tremor which can cause photos to turn out not as I was hoping in quality. So this prevents that which is extremely beneficial. Overall, I do recommend this. If you are just starting out with this kind of photography and want to see if something motorized will be beneficial to you. I'll probably set it up in a place where there is space at a backdrop for me to take photos.

I was very surprised at how easy this slider is to use with either the on device or phone app controls. The phone app offer so many options with your shot. If you have an Osmo Pocket 3 or 4 then you can also control the camera’s tilt and pan through the app. I have the Xtra Muse and it will not control that camera, but all the slider functions work. On larger but similarly priced units you have rods to pan your camera as it slides, but this once has spinning mount to do it. You can set marks on the device and key frames in the app. The application will take some time, only because of all of the tweaking you can do. You can spend all of the time playing with settings, because the battery life on this hits the promised 7-hours. That will depend of what camera weight, speed and angle your slides are though. The non-Pro Pico comes with a really nice cell-phone mount, mounting plate, USB-C cable, and carrying bag. The plate has bottom notches that align with a holding pin on the base. Many of the other plates I tried did not work, so keep this one safe. The motor was so quiet, and I have a video with the review, the minor noise you hear is coming from the HVAC and my phone rubbing against my shirt. This test was done using a Sony ZV-E1, so within the weight limit but heavier than an Osmo or cellphone. The base of the unit has retractable legs that extend with two pushes the push of button each side. Don’t panic if only one leg extends. Just press the button again and the other leg releases. The is a terrific light weight and portable unit with ease of use, with excellent value for the money, that can also move mirrorless cameras and lenses. It has replaced my larger slider for most shoots.

This is surprisingly light weight and ALMOST fits in a DSLR backpack. Most people are curious, but this will BARELY fit a mirrorless DSLR. If you want a bigger camera, it has to be as lightweight as possible - plastic lens, lose the cage if you can, and yeah it will handle simple movements for product shots. Tilting the camera up actually helps as the lens makes bigger cameras front heavy. However that also means pointing a bigger camera down makes it super front heavy and it won't work. The slower and more level / up you're camera is, the better. A Lumix with a 16-28 Sigma is doable. Now for osmo's, it's even better, as you can use the object tracking to tilt up and down while panning left and right for added versatility. This is the junior version, so it takes less weight and has only BASIC 2 keyframe options without using your phone app. This needs the phone app if you want to set more than two keyframes. The pro version is needed if you want to control the actual osmo gimbal as this won't connect to let you control the gimbal movements as the junior version. It's sometimes confusing which direction to face with the plate and the plate only goes in one way, but those are minor nuisances. Overall this is a very convenient product that gets better for osmo and small camera users. You may want to buy a swivel mount for an osmo so you can mount it from the side to do booming movements vertically.

Picked this up to add some smooth movement to product clips I shoot for a little side project. I mostly film small items with my phone and occasionally a Pocket gimbal, so a short motorized slider seemed like the right call. First time setting it up, the hardware felt fine, decent weight, nothing rattling around. The problems started once I actually tried to use it. The motor has a noticeable hum that my phone mic picked up on every take, so I ended up muting audio and re-recording separately, which defeats a lot of the point for quick clips. Slow moves also aren't as smooth as I hoped. At the lowest speeds I could see little stutters in the footage, especially on close-up shots where any jitter really shows. The app pairing was another headache. It dropped connection a few times mid-move, and getting a proper loop between two points took more fiddling than it should. Presets don't always save the way I set them, so I kept redoing the same programming. With my phone and a small light on the plate I was still well under the payload, but the movement felt strained on inclines. On the plus side, the build looks nice and the track length is fine for tabletop stuff. But between the motor noise, the shaky slow speeds, and the flaky app, I'm not reaching for it much. Went back to doing manual slow pushes on a cheaper rail for anything that matters.
