    • Very Smooth Motorized Aluminum Slider at a Great Price - Almost, But Not Quite Perfect
Size: 48" Aluminum Alloy Slider
I loved the 48" GVM motorized aluminum slider. When placed or mounted appropriately, you'll get a nice smooth shot with this slider, using either panning or parallax mode, even with subjects as close as three or four feet away. The rotating panning head has very little looseness or "play" and the result is jitter- and jerk-free footage. The construction and build quality of this GVM slider are pretty good overall, and certainly excellent considering the cost. This relatively inexpensive slider is not perfect. The aluminum body and panning guide rod of this slider are more rigid and substantial than the carbon fiber sliders and the result is a smoother shot. However, aluminum is heavier than carbon and with a 48" slider, that is something to be considered. If you are looking for a slider to use while travelling, you probably don't want a 48 inch aluminum slider. And while 48 inches gives you more options for your films or video, it is an unwieldy length to carry around. The remote is attached via cable, and controls and powers the slider. A real Bluetooth or Wifi remote would have been far more convenient. The remote (and slider) also does not remember settings from one session to the next, so you need to set the start and end points of the slider each time you turn it on. The basic controls are not completely intuitive, but once you've figured them out, it isn't too tricky to get the slider going. There are a number of useful modes and the slider has a variety of speeds, ranging from incredibly slow to slow-medium. The motor can be audible at the highest speed, but an external microphone should easily remedy any such issues. Bottom line - this slider will allow you to have very smooth panning and parallax footage. You are able to achieve a level of precision with this slider - even at three or four feet - that is not as easily achievable in similarly priced carbon fiber sliders. Many of the drawbacks in the slider are similar in almost any of the other sliders at this price point. If you are looking at this price range and you want decent looking footage, the GVM 48" slider is a good bet. ... show more

We got this camera slider to make panorama shooting and capture time lapse, the case come with all we need, the remote control , battery adapter and of course the slider, the convenient bag is great for when we make videos in different locations. It is very well built and has a very nice weight to it, the DSLR camera stays put beautifully and the videos and smooth and perfect! We got the 31 inch which is perfect for our needs. This slider is extremely easy to use, the remote control is very straight forward, the performance is superb in my opinion for cinematic videos and the motor is very quite so it does not interfere with the sound of the video when shooting nature with birds for example :) It is very stable for my cell phone as well as with my heavy DSLR and its lenses, the adjustable legs are very handy in uneven surfaces! ... show more

    • Material, Easy to Use, and Value - All 5's - HOWEVER
Size: 48" Aluminum Alloy Slider
So this is the first motorized slider for me, I've worked with many of the others, this is the first purchase. I'm big on having centralized power sources for everything. I presently shoot with the A6500 and other Sony MILC's and have the USB decoupler that allows me to power it all day off of an Anker candybar battery or any USB power source. I also have a COOLIS lithium ion generator with USB, AC, and 12v. This slider controller uses the very common Sony NP 550-7xx battery format, which is awesome for most people. But I don't use that battery for any other gear and wasn't interested in buying backups. So my 4 star rating is based on the fact that the controller uses a 5.5mm 2.5mm 12v female connection vs the 2.1mm which is the most common for this range of device. So I wasn't able to use it out of the box with my existing 12v cabling to my COOLIS generator and even finding out the specific size was trial and error, no documentation. So word to the wise, you can power this awesome slider off of a 12v source whether AC or DC, just know you'll need a 2.5mm/5.5mm connector, and they aren't that prevalent. I'm presently doing a burn in letting it run for hours on end and it's not even dropped the COOLIS one bar on the meter. I'll update with any pitfalls... ... show more

Using this slider in our multi-cam setup for live music recording has been exceptional! I actually purchased 2 and use them both every week! GVM has absolutely exceptional customer service as well, our slider fell from a considerable height (no fault of the equipment, just a user error) and one of the pieces on the end snapped. I emailed them and they got back to me promptly, and replaced the part for free! I will definitely be buying from them again! ... show more

    • Everything is bad, and loading capacities are overrated!
Size: 48" Aluminum Alloy Slider
I have several studio lights of this brand and decided to give a try to their motorized camera slider. But as it seems, I'll be returning this and here is why: 1. Poorly designed electronics, there are no endstops, so when it hits ends, motor makes wild noises and camera shakes wildly. 2. Bad mechanical precision - the trolley on the rails wobbles, and to fix things, you need to tighten the screw, but motor then can't handle the load! 3. Bad mechanical design - poorly made internal rail which does head rotation along with the movement- it is made from wery thin aluminum profile, so when there's a heavy camera on the slider, this thing flexes, making rotational movements choppy. 4. Very short cables- you can't simply connect everything and manage them from sideways. No, you have to WALK next to trolley, because cables are so short. So I do not recommend anyone buying this at all! ... show more
