    • Initial setup was horrible.
The only reason I gave this four stars is because it took hours to get this set up. I understand not every guitar is coming out of the box ready to play, just know that I know a bad setup from climate adjustments. Also, the “lock” hasp on the case was broken off. As soon as I unboxed it and set it on my couch to open it up, I saw a small metal piece fall in front of the case. No big deal because I doubt the hasp is rugged enough to keep anyone out of it. So don’t bother buying a lock, that’s sold separately. The trem block was 1/2” too high and the action needed significant lowering. Thankfully this isn’t my first setup and now it plays as it should. The pickups are awesome. The body and neck are beautiful and solid. The black chrome hardware look incredible in contrast to the white body top. The natural back and sides were a brilliant design feature. As for Sam Ash, the seller, I had an issue with shipping and they made amends for it. Great seller. Back to the guitar…aesthetics aside, the ash/maple wood combo give this guitar a very chimey sound acoustically. It sounds as good as a Les Paul unplugged, and that’s saying something. The whole issue with my initial problem was simply put, the strings weren’t stretched appropriately at the factory. That’s it! I’m a D’addario fan, but they need a solid stretch before you can clamp anything down. The floating trems are infamously difficult during and after string changes, and if you don’t get the “spring” out of the strings when you’re winding them taut, you’re in for days of retuning and trem block adjustments…kinda like I was. But I’m very satisfied with the purchase and the quality build of the guitar. I say it’s a bargain for a Japanese-made work of art. ... show more
