40-years of amateur bass playing here. I have had them all - fretless, 4,5,6,7 string, acoustic, you name it. This one is a beauty and a keeper, a joy to play, well crafted. The action was set up perfectly and frankly it barely even needed tuning out of the box. No fret buzz, fast action neck. Great sound. Can't say enough good things. Even the wood grain of the fretboard is more beautiful than any instrument I have had. Has a passive mode (rare to see this, but if you had a battery go our right during gig set up you know the value of this). The multiscale needs a comment - you don't notice it when playing. I do think it has value in terms of the C string being 2 inches shorter and having some tonal advantages, but if you are worried about the fanned frets being harder to transition to, don't worry. In any one position the difference in minor, you only notice it when you step back and see the whole neck. The nut IS diagonal so i guess on the first fret you might notice it more. Not an issue for me. This thing is a great value. (I almost got their 7 string multiscale BTB but it was a solid 2 pounds heavier than this one, not worth it for the extra string.) I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. Props to Sweetwater the merchant too. Fast shipping and I have the sense they helped set up the action but not completely sure, usually they don't come from the factory set up as well as this one. ... show more

    • A beautiful bass with a beautiful sound.
I have searched so long for a bass that plays good and sounds good and it's hard to find that combination. This one does both. The sound is exactly what I've been looking for and it just happens to be a beautiful bass at the same time. The fanned fret is not hard to play. You can't even tell that they're fanned. The neck is nice and slim and Contour just right and the electronics are impeccable. One of the tone knobs was a little scratchy and I called Ibanez and they already have a new one in the mail to me. I'm very happy with this guitar and I would recommend it to anyone ... show more
