    • Internal effect circuit not bypassed even if turned down--requiring fresh 9-volt battery regardless

Bass has okay sound but evidently depends on some electronic eq effect to make up for cheesy pickups. Even cranking the knob down to reduce this effect does not completely bypass it. As a result you do not get a pure feed from the pickups, and when the 9-volt battery (LOLZ!) runs down no signal passes to the amp!! Problem might be resolved with rewiring to bypass the circuit (but the fact that it's not that way from the factory leads me to suspect the circuit factors in somehow to impedance matching). Meanwhile the cheap battery already inside leaked by the time it depleted a couple months after receiving the bass. ... show more

As another reviewer wrote, this guitar should've never left the factory like this... Out of the box, it was barely strung, the bridge was too low, and the neck needed to be adjusted. The top two strings were literally unplayable. After raising the bridge (significantly) and tuning it, it's playable and sounds thick as hell. The neck still needs an adjustment I'm not confident in doing myself, so I'll need to take it to a professional tech. Other than that, it's a beautiful instrument and for an entry level 5 string, it sounds incredible for the price. Just be prepared for a lot of adjustments or a trip to your local guitar tech. ... show more

I'm a guitar player trying to lean the bass, and this was a perfect bass to use with Rocksmith to accomplish that. Good sound, good action and feel. Only negative would be the cheap plastic knobs which I replaced with black Gibson style top hat for the "boom" knob and speed for the 2 volume and 1 tone. ... show more
