Description

Patterned on their famous SR, the Ibanez GSR offers the same alternative approach to electric bass that all SR basses do. Light in weight, heavy in tone, with a fast, thin neck that you will find just a bit more comfortable than other brands—whether you’re a veteran bassist, a 6-string guitarist, or just starting out. Built to hold its own against pro level competitors, the GSR200BWNF features a solid Mahogany body with a sophisticated Walnut Flat finish that give it a luster well beyond its class. A Rosewood fingerboard, accented with medium-size pearl dot inlays round out the visuals. A sleek, comfortable, GSR4 Maple neck—widely recognized as the industry standard for playability—and rock solid Ibanez B10 bridge, rev up the specs to accommodate whatever you’re setting out to play. Factor in Ibanez Powersound P and J pickups for clarity and fullness well beyond their price point, and the PHAT- II EQ for ultra wide tonal range and you’ll see why the GSR206 ranks as one of the most-played basses of all time.

  • BUY THIS BASS?
Color: Pearl White Style: 4-String
Absolutely stunned! When I unpackaged this bass I was impressed. Beautiful white pearl finish, and a buffed smooth maple neck. The first thing I did was put it in my work table. I restrung it with my favorite string, Rotosound light gauge roundwounds. I strobe tuned it and started to play. To my surprise it played perfectly. No height adjustments on strings or pickups needed. The only adjustments I made were intonation on the E and D strings. So then I started playing with the tone. I play through a 25 watt Fender Rumble practice amp. I was set at 12:00 on my tone knobs. When I turned the bass blend knob I got a smile on my face. Suddenly I heard the richest bass tone appear, while not hearing any loss of mid or treble tone. Needless to say, I am happy with this bass guitar. I cannot believe this is a $250 beginner bass. It is perfect in every way. It is lightweight, it plays like a dream, and with my Rotosound strings, it is one of the best sounding basses I’ve ever heard. BUY ONE! ... show more

  • Excellent value, but be prepared to setup & tune! Excellent value, but be prepared to setup & tune!
Color: Walnut Flat Style: 4-String
This came with a tag indicating that it had been inspected and setup at the factory. But, shipping and handling must have had an effect on it (and/or they weren't careful at the factory) since it had multiple setup issues: - Neck curvature was incorrect (not concave enough) - E string bridge position was too low (and other strings were slightly uneven) The manual shows you how to fix the neck curvature and the tool is included in the box. The manual didn't say how to adjust the bridge, but it was pretty easy once I found some documentation online: insert a small allen wrench into the holes on both sides of where the string enters the bridge area. Once I fixed those two issues and did basic tuning (strings were about a minor third too loose for EADG tuning), it played great! I like that it's a bit lighter than my other bass (Squier vintage PJ) and has a flatter, slightly slimmer neck. I also like that the neck back is a smooth satin finish (vs. a sticky high-gloss finish on my Squier). Conclusion: I strongly recommend that you have an allen wrench set (w/ options around 2mm for the bridge) and a feeler gauge in order to perform setup when you get your instrument. The manual tells you proper string heights. Electronics and knobs seem fine. There is one knob that mostly stops, but you can push it a bit further. But, generally, the knobs respond as described according to the diagram at ibanez.com and changes are continuous as you'd expect. While getting the bass set up, I noticed some buzz coming out of my amp (Rumble 40). I was worried about electronics quality, but tracked the problem down to overhead lighting in the room that was on a dimmer circuit. Once I turned off those lights, the buzz went away and I got a very clean sound. I had played this model before and noticed that it was easier to play than my Squier. That's still the case. Only two things left to decide are (1) whether to put on flatwounds, and (2) what to do with my Squier :) ... show more

  • great bass
Color: Pearl White Style: 4-String
great bass. well it has it's limitations. I'm a guitar player so for what it's worth. well made. intonation is good. the action, distance the strings are from the frets, is good. good sound. I would recommend for the beginner and intermediate. I ended up putting flat wound strings on mine and Seymour duncan pick ups in it just for an upgrade. I play in a band and wanted a beefier sound. but overall it's great. I would highly recommend it. good value for the money. ... show more

  • Great value bass. Sounds good, required neck and bridge adjustment.
Color: Transparent Red Style: 4-String
Good basic bass. Mine came detuned, and I think whoever set it up set the neck relief at that pitch. Not great. Tuned it up, adjusted the truss rod to make it straight (from the concave), lowered the bridge saddles and it was good to go. The required hex wrenches are included. Sounds good, though not as good as the SR300E I had. That may however be the heavy strings on it. I prefer lighter strings and think they sit in the mix better. I personally find the boom EQ control useless and leave it off. Overall, however, I'm quite satisfied for $200. It has that tight bumpy bottom Ibanez is known for. ... show more

  • Very good bass guitar! Very good bass guitar!
Color: Walnut Flat Style: 4-String
I just got this bass guitar and WOW! That is a fresh beat! I originally play guitars, but I needed a bass guitar to play the bass parts on some songs my brother and I recorded, so I bought this one! The box came with no damage at all, and the bass guitar has no scratches or dings! All I had to do was just tune it and play it! I highly recommend this bass guitar! I'm surprised it isn't more expensive! ... show more

  • Great! Zero regrets purchase.
Color: Jewel Blue Style: 4-String
I frankly expected less, but it's very nice and well made. It is easy to play. The action comes set low. It is fun, looks nice, has a decent variety of tones too and you can dial it in. It's not luxury but its really good for the money and you won't regret having bought this model. I'm sure I can noodle on it for years. Don't forget a strap. ... show more

  • The look and sound of this Ibanez GSR200 bass guitar is outstanding The look and sound of this Ibanez GSR200 bass guitar is outstanding
Color: Transparent Red Style: 4-String
First of all the transparent red color is gorgeous. I did not have to do any setup on it, but it is very easy to do if you find that yours needs a little tweaking. In fact that swiveling truss rod cover is downright genius to easily get access to it. They sent me the wrong model number bass on my first order and I thought the GSR100 was also a very solid good sounding bass, but when the correct version finally showed up and I plugged it in, the sound of the GSR200 was markedly better than the next model lower. Get ready to groove with this instrument, because it will put a smile on your face when you hear the sounds that you can get out of it. The only downside is the nut has some very sharp corners on it. I recommend filing those corners down so they cannot be felt when handling your instrument in a hanging vertical position. Minor issue. ... show more

Color: Transparent Red Style: 4-String
this has to be one of the best buys ive made! plays awesome after a minimal amount of bridge set up(has a slight fret buzz ). super light action, the stock pick ups are just fine and has to be the LIGHTEST bass ive ever played...my old stage go to was an Aria Pro beast, thing probably weight clove to 30 lbs but had a super fat sound that was perfect for live, never wanted to use my 57 fender p bass for live shows!! i recently got back into playing and this bass paired with the Fender Rumble amp is absolutely perfect!! ... show more
