  • durable collapsible water bottle
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
i've had several hydrapak products, and this one definitely lives up to the brand's quality standards. its much thicker plastic than my previous collapsible bottle that came with my katadyn filter (which this is also compatible with). this is a pro and a con for me. i appreciate the extra durability, and it's ability to stand up on it's own, but the extra bulk is felt in my hip pack... for short river hikes i really wanted something smaller and more easily crushable to fit in my little pack. like all the other hydrapak bottles and reservoir bags i've tried (and honestly pretty much all water reservoirs systems...) it does have a plasticy taste. it's not the worst, but it is noticeable. but if you want a collapsible water pack, that's just what you have to deal with. for most other hiking purposes, particularly if i'm carrying a backpack, this product is excellent! i think it will last much longer than my old .6L hydrapak that came with the befree, but im still sad they dont make these any more though.. hydrapak, if you're reading, please make a sub 1L softflask that is compatible with the katadyn befree!! thanks again for the great products! ... show more

  • Exactly what I was looking for
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
I got the silicone taste out of pretty much completely. I threw a splash of vinegar at the bottom, mixed it around, then I poured water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit into the bottle, without letting it touch the plastic top. Then I let it sit until the water was room temperature and rinsed it out with soap and water. I did this 3x, don’t want to do it more in case I ruin it but I can’t taste plastic anymore. I get why people are upset, it smells like silicone/plastic and doesn’t keep its shape if you don’t inflate it with air after drinking. Those two issues are not deal breakers for me. It’s so much fun walking around the gym with this thing. Feels like a stress toy just holding it. ... show more

  • Great for festivals!
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
I bought the Hydrapak Flux collapsible bottles for a large music festival, and I am so glad I did. It rolled up small so I could put it in my clear bag and had no issues entering the grounds with it. And it holds a good bit so I didn't have to go back and forth to stand in line for more. It also is of very good quality and will last for a good long while. Would highly recommend this! ... show more

  • Bought two, both smell and affect taste of drink
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
Bought two of these, and was really hopeful based in other reviews. They both came with a strong smell that I can't wash or air out (it's been 2 weeks) and it affects the taste of the water I tried to drink out of them. I have to return them, can't use them. Note for anyone thinking of a flexible water bottle - they're awkward to drink out of since you can't hold the bottle by the sides. It also flops over when standing up. Not a flaw with this model, just a general design thing to think about. They're awkward to use. ... show more

  • Good purchase, but!!
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
I love that it is thin, collapsible, and holds a lot of water. It has not leaked or perspired at the bottom or tilted over “when full.” However, when it’s not completely full the bottle will fold in (collapse) and fall over spilling the remaining contents. (It’s a delicate balance.) I need something with a spout that prevents automatic spillage when the bottle is not full. ... show more

  • Perfect for Katadyn BeFree filter
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
I bought this to replace the floppy, thin pouch that comes with the Katadyn BeFree filter. I hated having to scrunch up that pouch with two hands once it was less than half full. It also didn’t work well in the bottle pouch on the side of a backpack. This works perfectly. It’s thicker and seems more durable as well. Time will tell if the durability holds up to hiking and backpacking. I’ll update this review if it punctures or springs a leak at the seams. The rubber strap at the top seems strong enough to hang the bottle from when full. I bought the 1L because I was worried that the 1.5L would be too floppy to put in the side pocket of a pack or that it wouldn’t stand up on its own when full, but this 1L is pretty sturdy so I kinda wish I had gone with the 1.5L. I might still pick up the bigger one after I try this one for a bit. I included a picture of the 1L bottle next to a standard Blender Bottle shaker for reference. ... show more

  • Works with the Katadyn filter.
Style: 32 oz (1 Liter) Color: Mammouth Grey
As a UL they-hiker I was looking for an upgrade to the slow-filtering Sawyer, but needed a lightweight and reasonably durable bottle to pair with the Katadyn filter. While the Flux is heavier than a Smart water bottle, it’s worth the weight to be able to use the Katadyn filter. The bottle itself is remarkably durable (Appalachian Trail thru/hike tested), easy to fill due to its large mouth, and collapses a great deal when not full (which is great for traveling to the trail!). The sole drawback would be the plastic taste this bottle leaches into the water. At first it was bad. Like…really bad. I rinsed it, baking soda and lemon juice soaked, and finally bleach soaked it to get to a non-nauseating level of taste. Even after 4 months on the Appalachian Trail, it still has trace amounts of that delectable plastic flavor. TL;DR: it works with the Katadyn filter, but be prepared for the plastic taste to be around for quite some time. ... show more
