I have wide feet. Size 8.5 W. The women's size 9 in the tall Hunter boots with the gusset in the back fit absolutely perfect. Not a lot of arch support, but there is enough room in the boot to put a supportive insole into them. They are very comfy with the insoles and I'm very picky about comfort. LOVE the gusset in the back, making the calf space wide enough for my extra wide calves, even with pants tucked in. Very hard for me to find rubber boots that would fit over my calves. Previously had to use the Muckboot brand with it's stretchy neoprene tops. But those are very stiff, heavy and clunky and hard to move quickly in. These tall Hunter boots with the back gusset are much lighter weight, more flexible, easier to move in, and just perfect for their intended purpose. I'm a dog trainer and I work outdoors often. They are not cold weather boots. If the temp drops below 35 F, they're not warm enough. I wear heavily insulated pac boots in the super cold weather. I am sensitive to the cold. I bought these intending to use them for pond-shore work, rain, mud, brush, tick protection in the lower vegetation. I went to a store and tried on another style of Hunter brand before ordering from Amazon. The local store did not have this style, or I certainly would have preferred to support my small, local business. But Amazon is always a positive experience too. THANK YOU !! PERFECT !! May 2017 Update - Have worn these boots almost daily for over a year now. Sometimes for several hours at a time. (a bit hot and sweaty in the warmer weather, but not nearly as bad as Muckboots.). I slog around in a foot of water & muck pulling cattails out of the pond, I crash through wet weeds and muddy fields training dogs, the occasional stall mucking job for a friend......the boots hose off easily and show no signs of wear. EXCELLENT! I am considering purchasing a "back-up" pair in case Hunter decides to stop making them after they outlive their current "fashion statement status".     • Big calves need to know
Size: 9 Color: Navy
Yes you can own a pair. Years ago, I owned a pair of knock offs in olive green. I loved them but after I had my first child, my calves were too big to wear them again. Fast forward 6 years later and I finally decided to risk it and get a real pair. I went with the adjustable back buckle, thinking if that didn’t work, maybe Huntress. Key things for those who have never owned Hunter: If you have big calves, get the adjustable back buckle or go for Huntess. The original side buckle style will be too tight. If you’re on the short side (I’m 5’5), chances are the boot shaft will hit the back of your legs when you walk or bend down or climb in the car. This is a tad annoying. Regular socks won’t cut it if you’re wearing them for more than an hour. You’ll start to feel the fold in the back buckled shaft rub your skin raw. Best wear boot socks. If you have slightly wider feet, feet that may not be wide but certainly are not narrow, you’ll start to wonder why on earth the makers decided on such a tiny ankle opening. This makes them snug but not uncomfortable or too difficult to remove, though. Just not super easy to slide off either. But you’ll love them. They are ridiculously cute with so many outfits and you’ll never have to worry about the weather on the way to work. Side note: Navy is a really nice change—not pirate black but still on the muted side and goes with everything. ... show more

    • Snug across the upper arch
Size: 10 Color: Navy
Women's size 10 wide width calf with gusset and buckle at back of upper shaft. Boot is hard to pull on and really hard to pull off due to my high arches. My tall leather boots all have long zippers, so I don't have that problem. Wore them in rainy weather walking for over half an hour. I had sore spots on my heels due to upward movement in the heel area of the boot, but I didn't get blisters. There is a fairly strong rubber odor, but this may have been because while driving the heat was on my feet. Boots arrived in new box with the Hunter paperwork. The tissue paper looked used but that's okay, better to recycle than toss it out. Fast shipping. ... show more

I LOVE these boots. I live in Southern CA and we've been having a record rain year. I had an old pair of boots from years ago and they got a hole in them so it was time to replace them. I debated spending the extra $$ to get the Hunter boots, since it likely won't rain like this again for a million years, but when I planned a trip to Seattle I decided it was time to bite the bullet. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. The boots fit perfectly and were so comfortable. We walked 7+ miles both days of the trip and my feet were definitely tired by the end of the day but they didn't hurt. They were kept comfortable all day long, both days, in brand new boots no less. Highly, highly recommend spending the extra $$ to get this quality pair. ... show more

    • Vendor Unresponsive to Issues with Boots

These boots fit well, but when I found a slit in one of them that allowed water to enter the boot, I contacted Hunter. The representative there told me that the boots were purchased "from another stockists and not directly from Hunter." They related that their authorized stockists, however, should be aware of the 24-month Hunter warranty and should honor this. I contacted the Hunter stockiest list and the boots were not sold by any of their authorized stockists. So, that means they could not authenticate or verify the origin of the products purchased. (It doesn't mean the boots are fake, although they could be, but that they may have been purchased and sold to another business.) Translation: Not going to help you with this issue! I was extremely disappointed with this run-around. The boots are wonderful if they are for real, but if you have any problems, good luck finding help. ... show more
