  • Need AAA batteries
The tablet is easy to setup & easy to use just make sure you have a AAA battery for the pen but otherwise everything is straightforward. I’m currently using this w/ Adobe illustrator & works just fine! Definitely recommend for beginners.

  • My first pen-tablet: Awful installation but I figured it out
UPDATE: This product causes endless frustration. I rarely use it but I now have a need for it. I connected the tablet but the pen does nothing. After much tapping and clicking and swiping the pen with a brand-new battery, it suddenly decides to turn on. I practice for a while on the Pen Pressure Test until the whole thing freezes and refuses to reatart. I re-downloaded the software and began again. The tablet seems to connect fairly easily once I reinstalled, but the pen is just a nightmare. You're supposed to click it on and just tap it somewhere to wake it up. Again, I tap, I click, I do everything I can to connect. Sometimes it will spontaneously and inexplicably start working, but if I put it down again, good luck getting it to turn on again without more tap-click-repeat. Also, pen sensitivity does NOT work in Sketchbook, although some people claim they were able to get it working, I did not. That is the program I wanted to use, so I guess I'm back to the drawing board, pun intended. I originally said I liked the setting that allows me to use both of my monitors. Problem: It has never worked. Also, my computer is running out of USB inputs and that is the only way to connect. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The Windows instruction booklet is awful. If the CD didn't come with a manual, I would still be scratching my head, and perhaps sending it back. But I followed the CD's user manual and managed to get it working. At first I found the movements wild and hard to control. It's much harder to use the pen as a cursor and navigate screens and windows than to use it in a drawing program. I am still trying to get the hang of it. You hover the pen over the tablet to move the cursor, then touch it down to begin drawing or to click on a button. There are two buttons on the pen and three on the tablet that you can program for a number of options, such as right-clicking or erasing. I haven't gotten proficient enough with my control to actually benefit from these, but they do seem to work. I've been using it in Microsoft's OneNote app, which lets me create shapes and math symbols easily. For example in the Draw mode, click Ink to Shape, and when you draw a square freehand, it straightens out the lines and angles so it's a nice neat square. You can also do that with math, and write out a formula using shapes like an integral sign, click when you're done, and voila, you have a professional looking expression. However, in OneNote, Ink to Text is grayed out, and I'm not sure why, but that's not the problem of the pen. One worry I had was that I write too faintly for the pen. In the pen's settings, you can test the pressure sensitivity. I tried writing something and was aghast that my normal pen pressure (very light) was effectively invisible. I was afraid that I would have to press really hard to make readable text, which could create stress in my hand. However, once I got into OneNote, I saw that it depends on the pen or brush that you're using. When I use a wide enough pen, my light touch is just fine. I haven't put in all a lot of hours yet, but I am satisfied that this product will be suitable for my need, which mostly was to be able to write in a white-board setting with better results than using a mouse. The tablet is a bit small and I have to practice getting the pen in the right spot, but the technology is working. I often use dual monitors and I like that I can use it in either, or limit the screen to just one monitor. ... show more

  • Nicely produced basic drawing tablet, but up to needs for professional use.
I had to return this item for 2 reasons. But first the good. For the price point well below Wacom and arguably the only competitor to have emerged, I was impressed with the quality. The pen is very nicely weighted and I have to say I like the tip even more than Wacom--accurate, pressure sensitivity excellent. The tablet itself was pretty cheap and light looking and I had my doubts, but it surprisingly felt quite natural once plugged in. The added swag the company provided with the tablet (cleaning kit, a glove i'd never wear, a felt case) were all nice touches that added to the positive experience, and if someone were purchasing this as a gadget for fun, would probably improve their product satisfaction substantially. I, however, am a full time designer, who needs these tools to function at work all day every day. (rereading this I realize I should have just bought the usual Wacom to start, but it's always nice to give the underdog a shot... plus at this price point....) 1. During the first day of setting up, there was an an issue. Most designers who work with artboards have one pen button to right/control-click and the other button to Pan-Scroll. The options the driver provide are only scroll up or scroll down (though even this interface is weird you hover the pen while holding button and motion up and down without touching tablet which is weird and inaccurate to pan, it's a lot of wrist flicking to get around this way--a typical web publication might be 17 wrist flicks for example--and depending on if you chose scroll up or scroll down you can only use this one way, and then still have to resort to your touch pad or arrow keys the other way). That aside none of these allow full panning--or scrolling in all directions (up down left right)l. Many design programs have a shortcut key "space" that turns on panning, so by setting the pen button to "space" I could still pan in a few design programs and was willing to get used to this, and use my laptop's touch pad on all other programs not using the space bar as a pan shortcut. It was annoying, but not the impossible. For those interested there is a fix via a medium article if you google it which involves downloading an additional program someone made but it's an exe file and only works on PCs 2. The second day my computer would only recognize the device 25% of the time and I would have to keep replugging it in. I have the latest MacBook Pro, it seems there is a compatibility error. Between this, and the issue above I had no choice but to return it. Changing my behavior, and also having to reset the device constantly slows my workflow far too much to give this a chance. However, both these issues are definitely software issues, not hardware issues. When performing the device performs pretty well and feels good. Hopefully they can release a driver update (pretty simple) to support designers who need pan scrolling and also better recognition on Macs which a majority of designers still use. ... show more
