This is the second set of these shelves that I have purchased. They are very sturdy with a cool industrial style. I use them for displaying collectibles in my home office. The wood shelves are nice and couple well with the metal rails and brackets. They're well made and easily assembled.

The bookshelf stand went together easy. I like the sturdiness of the wood shelves and the distressed texture of them. The bookshelf matched well with my television stand. I use it for displaying family photographs and it works well for this. I wish it had slightly deeper width of the shelves to accommodate larger photos/frames better but it still works well. I do wish the metal framing was made from a heavier metal but it is adequate.

Update: I am updating this review because it is now several years later, and I have bought a several more of these (one that arrived yesterday!). I am still incredibly pleased with this product. These bookshelves are excellent quality, and very durable. They come in different tiers, so I’ve been able to pick ones that are the right height for what I need. The color is true to the pictures, and the pieces fit in great with my overall style. I love that they are so functional and versatile, and I have use these bookshelves in my living room, office, and bedroom. I even moved to another state with them and they are still in the same great condition as the day they arrived. Original Review: I have not put this together yet, but I already love it. These are real wood, contrary to what some people have said in their reviews. No offense to anyone, but if you have not had a lot of experience with different types of wood and woodwork I can see why there would be some confusion about that. This is simply a lightweight variety of wood. It does have a smell when it is opened… If you go to your nearest home-improvement store and open a can of wood stain you will smell the exact same thing. Like others have said, if you just leave that bookshelf, in an open area for a few days, the smell will go away. This is not one large, solid piece of wood, but two thinner pieces of wood glued together for each slab. The slabs are not perfectly smoothed: as you can see in the pictures they are roughhewn. However, they have been sanded and finished nicely. They are just rough enough to look good. I will certainly be buying more, particularly considering the fact that you can pay at least this much for MDF products. I’m very happy the manufacturing, quality, and the finished piece.

I honestly love everything about the shelf. The wood grain is really pretty, and the shelves are solid wood with a nice finish. It is definitely sturdy, which I needed because most of my books are hardcover. It was pretty easy to assemble. I especially liked how well it was packed, and that when I pulled the package inside I noticed a red string taped to the outside of the box. When I open the box, it turned out that the string was attached to the individually sorted bag of included hardware and tools. I also liked that extras of every piece of hardware and tool were included. I did notice that a few of the boards seemed a little warped, but once I began attaching them to the shelves, inserting the screws into the holes in the shelves, which were also lined with metal connectors, the tension of screwing the hardware together definitely straightened out the shelves. The metal shelf brackets have a matte finish and seem pretty sturdy. The brackets also have adjustable feet, which helps as my older home has uneven floors. On its own, the entire bookshelf seems pretty stable. However, it did come with a stability kit included, which can be used to attach the bookshelf to the wall. I didn’t use it since I don’t have any little kids around the house, but I appreciate that it was included with the package. Overall, I love the look and feel of the shelf. I honestly think it will last a long time. I like it so much I’m thinking about getting two more.

I'm using these as book shelves (bought 2 and placed next to each other). Very sturdy, but at 85" tall I did anchor them to the wall. No issues so far when filled with books. The only negative is that the wood shelves have a strong vanish smell out of the box. I would suggest letting them sit out in a garage or porch for a few days before bringing into the house.

This is a quality bookshelf for loss of books. It was easy to assemble (much better than most flat pack furniture). It is sturdy and the shelves are thick and strong. I filled it with heavy books and it remains sturdy. It looks nice. You can use the bars as bookends or work around them. I'm super impressed.

I love these bookshelves! I purchased three of them two years ago and am now adding two more. They are very good quality and look nice. They are heavy and solid. Two things to point out: first, an allen wrench is included, however, there are a lot of bolts. So I recommend having a cordless screwdriver with the appropriate allen wrench head. Much easier on the hands! Second, they are tall, so if you have little ones running about, be sure to attach them to the wall. With the weight, they could really hurt someone if they fell over.
