I am so happy with my purchase! I love this laptop. I have a MacBook Pro that I use as my 'home' computer, and I use this one as my 'travel' computer. I take this one with me on vacation, to coffee shops, friends houses, etc. This laptop is fast, easy to use, and holds a charge for a long time, and the price is fantastic.     • Almost perfect but has heating issues

This chromebook was a big upgrade from my 6 year old chromebook but in one way it felt like taking a step back. My old chromebook for the same price point had a fan and never had overheating issues unless I really pushed it. This new style of chromebook however doesn't utilize fan cooling and claims that the new processor chips are created to not require anything beyond passive cooling by temporarily dropping the chip power if things get too hot. This might work for people simply using the device as a document tool, but the world has shifted to streaming entertainment media and that is where this chromebook falls very short. While the chromebook has a 1080p screen it can only stream 1080p content for maybe 30 minutes before the chip is forced to scale down in power to help cool off. Doing this demolishes the chromebooks ability to stream content, causes lots of hitching and lagging, and makes you either turn the content down BELOW 720p to cool off or just stop streaming content altogether. This is a big deal since a lot of people are going to want to stream at the resolution the screen is capable of. Other than that the HP 14 works great. ... show more

This is so far the best priced chrome book that I have purchased. I'm not an expert on these things and as a matter of fact as much as I love electronic gadgets we clash like oil and water. So bearing that in mind and strictly in my opinion I give it 5 stars because it is "simply" easy to use, yet it has the appearance of a high dollar device, if your into that, it fits in well anywhere you go. This HP Chromebook is taking the place of a HP laptop with 2 gb of ram which was getting bogged down just about every time I used it. The Chromebook is very fast and the chrome os has not gotten bogged down once.

So bought this for my son to watch Netflix, Hulu and prime. It was great. It sat on his desk for two years and it was awesome, he’d watch his movies on it when he had free time. One day he went to watch it and said it wouldn’t turn on. So I went to see what was wrong thinking it was a dead battery only to see it was plugged in. Told him to give it a minute, after 20-30 mins I tried to turn it on and nothing but black screen. Light on side says it’s charging but screen won’t do anything. For something that has been stationary and handled with care it should have lasted longer than two years. He only gets 2 hours max of screen time a day. Sucks. In the market for a new one if this can’t be fixed for a reasonable amount of money. ... show more

I am completely fed up with HP and this device. I wish I never bought it. It worked for a little over 2 months and then the trackpad would start to lock up randomly to the point it was unusable without a mouse. When I tried to contact HP, I had a really hard time getting help from their support line. They were unresponsive and unhelpful. Finally, I got a hold of someone who let me send the unit in to have it repaired. I had issues with the repaired unit ever since I got it back. It loses video images and and I am unable to get it to connect to external monitors or to cast to Chromecast. Once again, I tried to contact support and had issues getting anyone to respond. As with before, when I did finally get someone, they were not helpful - I feel like I was getting stock answers that had nothing to do with what the problem was. I finally gave up and swore I would not go with another HP device (Chromebook, printer, or other device). It just isn't worth trying if you can't get support because HP is too big and bureaucratic for their britches these days. ... show more

Wow! Let me start by saying I was looking for something that would start up quickly and assist me in everyday tasks for a counseling practice. I have been blown away by this computer for its ease. If you are a gmail user, this is all you could ever want. If you're looking for something that will power up in less than ten seconds and rarely needs updates, you absolutely need this pc. While not for storage or major downloads, I found this to have everything I need: docs for writing documents, sheets for excel, and the list goes on. The only down side to this computer is that you must be connected to the internet to use most of the features . You can still use stationary items like calculator or access files but you will not be able to access docs or many of the other icons without internet. Overall, I'm in love. Speakers are LOUD! And even has a webcam! EDIT one year later: Still working and no issues. Absolutely love this computer! ... show more
