  • Ordered for Employees
I work at a Class 1 Railroad and had to find a Lathe Operating instruction book since this is really not being taught in general. The instructor wasn't sure of the name of the book he had back in the 60's, so I was on a quest! I ordered ten copies, and the instructor is very pleased with this book. Thanks! ... show more

  • Rip off copy, 1/5 of the origianl manual
This is a copy of the original manual which is now published as the full copy with 130 pages of good information and not this 31 pages of limited direction around the controls. The other book can be purchased on Amazon under: How to Run a Lathe: The Care and Operation of a Screw Cutting Lathe O'Brien, John Joseph Sold by: Amazon.com Services LLC Return eligible through Jan 31, 2021 $5.25 I have experience working a lathe. I just have not done any intricate projects for a long time so I wanted to refresh my mind. The John Joseph O'Brien is a copy of the original South Bend Lathe Manual, which has not been published for years. I have a Clausing Lathe, but the John Joseph O'Brien 130 page copy is well worth the money costs less than this pamphlet. ... show more

Everything as expected.

  • I didn't expect much
I didn't expect much for the price and received less than expected. I received a small number of photocopied pages that looked like they were folded and stapled together at the kitchen table. Like I said, I didn't expect much for the price but received less. It has been relagated to the trash can. 🤥

  • Good Nostalgia, Very Basic Info
I enjoyed reading this book. It covers some very basic info on using a manual lathe, which hasn't changed since the book was written. It's also an interesting 'historical document' which might make it enjoyable even if you aren't trying to learn how to run a lathe.

  • Not worth it...
This was worthless. Badly scanned copy that was not even fitting the page. The graphics were so bad I could not figure out what the picture was about. Not worth the $5... Run away....

  • Useless, find a full reprint
This is a reprint of only part of the How to Run A Lathe manual. As others have said, ignore this one and fine another book for a full reprint of the manual.

  • Badly done copy. Look for the real thing, not this.
Ordered this because I couldn't find my original. I did find my original and I'm glad I did. This book only has 31 mimeographed pages of the originals 128 pages
