    • Give yourself plenty of time
We had two broken springs on the old couch. It took us four hours to finish the job. You need a bolt cutter to get the broken springs off....luckily we have a set of bolt cutters...but even then you need a lot of strength to cut those springs. Be prepared for that !! Once we got the broken springs off the new ones went on with no problems. Our biggest issue was with the wrapping clamps that hold the stabilizer wires. We had a hard time getting the old ones off and a harder time getting the new clamps on. We found that we had to use channel locks to hold one side of the clamp, while using needle nose pliers to bend the clamps around the springs and wire. I dropped one star on my review because it would be better if the instructions had better details on how to easily bend the clamps. We tried many combinations of wrenches and pliers to find a combo that worked. It would be easier if it was spelled out on the best method to get the job done. All that being said. The repair kit was well worth the money. And the very favorite old couch is back in business. ... show more

I have bought springs to repair our couch before and they usually break on me within a year. This kit was very useful, came with all the right parts, and springs are much tougher than what I had been using. I almost was not able to cut them down to a size I needed. I definitely will purchase this product again, if needed. ... show more

The springs were a little longer than the ones I was replacing, but it was fairly simple to cut them to fit using a Dremel. Since they were a little thicker than the originals it would have been impossible to cut them with pliers. Bolt cutters may have worked but the Dremel was fast and worked well. Installation wasn't too difficult and now my chair is again good to sit in. Good product, I recommend it. ... show more

A spring broke in my favorite chair causing it to sag and felt like I was sitting in a hole. I had watched a video about repairing it on youtube and it mentioned that kits like this were available on Amazon. For the price, I thought it was worth a shot. I didn't actually take the old spring out, I just cut about 12" of the spring in the kit and bridged over the break and used the fasteners it came with. It worked great! Immediately I could feel the seat had regained support. The kit had way more stuff in it than I needed for this repair, but if it happens on another chair, I'm sure I can fix it. ... show more

    • Good product, but my couch was just too old
I had a really old loveseat, literally no idea how old, but it was sagging really bad, one spring was snapped and both stay wires were broken in multiple places. I replaced the spring, "patched" the stay wire, and put 1 extra stay wire across the whole thing. But even after all that roughly 6 hours of work it still sags way down no matter where you sit. That being said this was a great product with relatively easy install, if my couch were not from the great depression this probably would have worked. Only gripe is the instructions do not explain what to do to for 'repairing',, in that they explain it in a way like your starting from no springs and no stay wire. Maybe I just did it wrong, so back to plywood I guess ... show more
