We had contractors that raised our shower head to the point where we could barely reach our detachable shower head. In our house we’re between 5’ and 5’6 and this works perfect for dropping it down to the appropriate height. It was easy to install just make sure you have that plumbers tape or it’ll leak. Got it for my wife, who can’t reach the shower head cuz she’s short and has T Rex arms. She likes it a lot, and decided she would rather sit down on a bench while showering. It is a comfort to me cuz I really worry about her falling. She’s 76 this April. It was a bit difficult to install, and I have trouble tightening the joints after adjusting the position of the head. Since the head is about 18 inches lower I keep bumping my head on the bracket when I remove the head to rinse off. But I got it for her, not for me. ... show more

No more hitting my head at the shower head or contorting. It is a huge difference. The shower arm feels sturdy, even though I would rather have the hinges with some sort of inner teeth for added firmness, and not just pressure. The hinge that goes to the water pipe is fixed, thus one must turn the whole arm while installing, but that was not an issue for me. It seems the product description at Amazon says one does not need teflon tape for the installation, but the product manual says otherwise. I did use the tape since one of the hinges is fixed, and thus has a more limited range of tightening while keeping the arm properly aligned. ... show more

I decided to ignore the other written reviews with warnings about installation but encountered the same problems they did. Happy enough after some additional efforts: 1) The female nut that joins the fixture to your shower arm does not turn. This means that when you tighten it down, it is most likely to be off at some weird angle. Then, when you turn it to be straight, you'll loosen it enough to leak. You'd need something sort of straight shower arm to allow you to overtighten to a vertical orientation. This worked for me: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00176BI2U 2) The quality of the gasket seems low; on the first install, it split right in two.
