The instructions were a little confusing at first, you have to really pay attention to the pictures (the placing of the holes, the screws etc) because written instructions are non existent. Otherwise, I love it for my specific needs. I also love that it has a metal frame for someone like me who is magnet obsessed. I did underestimate how big it was based on photos so I'll have to buy a other one as it didn't hold all my books.

As Sold -- The lowest shelf space is 12.5" tall. The middle shelf space is only 8.75" so it will fit digest-sized books, but not composition books or half-letter sized binders. My Caddy Mod -- For my caddy, I replaced the feet with screw-on 1" casters. Replaced my night stand. Works great. Easy install and assembly. For my own selfishness of use, wish it had my horizontal metal supports at the shelves. Doesn’t need it to hold things but I use magnets to hang some things and it would just be convenient for me.

This is an excellent shelf in general. It's sturdy, but light. It's easy to assemble with accurate instructions/diagrams. All tools are included (screwdriver & 2 hex keys)... you won't need anything additional. The item could actually be stronger if the vertical bars were single pieces, but I think it was designed to be packed into a small box. I purchased this item because it happened to be the perfect dimensions for where I needed a shelf for DVDs/Blue-rays and the design matched other furniture. This however is not actually made for media storage... better if you put books in it. The thinner middle bar on each shelf is just high enough that media boxes can still slip out if the row is not full (particularly shelves #2 and #4 because they are slightly shorter).
