  • Great for not just horses!
I bought this a couple months ago to help with ground training the miniature horses and alpacas at my work. It has lasted! It's been stomped on, bitten, and one mini rolled in a mud puddle with it. The d rings are nice and strong but not attached at an angle, so the amount of pressure each one puts on the body is a little higher than I'd like. But its good for helping to train the minis and alpacas to handle any hand that drives with them. I plan to buy another and some side reins to better train the alpacas. And a regular horse sized one for the llamas we're rescuing. Great product! Just make sure you use soft hands and no bits cuz this has plenty of pressure to where it's not needed :) ... show more

  • Solid product but buckles to tighten girth are terrible
Just arrived and put on both my standard donkeys that are going on two years old. I made this video for a different audience so sorry it’s not detailed on the product. Giving it 4 stars as I hate the buckles used to tighten the girth. They were terrible when feeding through and when you go to tighten. They should put buckles with rollers on. Other than that, it fits both my donkeys with room to grow and seems well made. ... show more

  • Too big for some minis
I have two 34' minis, one is pretty robust, but the other is lightly built. This surcingle fits my bigger mini, but was much too big for the lighter one. I had to put more holes into the straps to make it fit. (I heated a metal barbecue skewer and melted the holes through the nylon.) I made the surcingle about as small as it could go, and it is still a little looser than I'd like, but OK. I would be concerned that this would not work at all for smaller, more lightly built minis. ... show more

  • Good little item
I came fast, packaged well. Appears well made. Not sure if it is because it is winter and he is covered in hair but it seems a little snug for my B mini. Can only raise it to the third hole on each side. It serves it's purpose.

  • Broke second time used!
Appeared well-made at first, but when my mini stallion stopped and twisted around while being ground driven, the stitching holding the bottom ring on one side pulled loose and the ring came off, along with part of the girth billet. I had to take it to a local saddle repair shop and pay to get all the rings reinforced. And the girth buckles do not have rollers, making it hard to tighten it. Try and find one that's not made in China, that was stitched with heavy-duty thread and has roller buckles, you'll be much happier! ... show more

  • and it's holding up beautifully.
I ordered this for my TB/Paint weanling. The included girth is teeny tiny, so it got switched for a dressage girth. I've used it a couple of times now, just got side reins, and it's holding up beautifully.

  • Does the job
Fits nicely Would have given it a 5 but the buckles are rather flimsley
