I wanted a smaller set to make a lawn decoration. In this case, I used the 50 lights to make a cardinal wound over a wire coat hanger and traded out a few red bulbs for yellow and orange. Turned out well! Nowadays, the strings are LED and often a 100 in length. For me, that isn't always what's needed. These worked well and the red is a nice bright red. Not pink! ... show more

I've got a fake pine-needle garland intertwined with a 50-string light set. In retrospect, it might've been easier to just unhook that set and intertwine this new one. Instead, I bought these to replace every single stinkin' bulb in that old set, one at a time. Found a bunch (over 20) that were burned out, but once I'd done it all, it lit up beautifully. Four shorter strands later, limited to three ornaments per strand per safety recommendations, I have a second dedicated holiday tree and my Star Trek collection back in action.
