  • Looks Fantastic
This was one of the first things I wanted to do to my new jeep. Unfortunately I had to wait a while due to finances. I received my item yesterday and installed it today. This was my experience! The product is a nice thick durable material. It feels nice in your hands and looks like it will last quite a while. Install was a little tricky for me personally- because my Jeep is 25 years old. I'm not sure how long the screws have been in place for my factory gas area. The screws are rusted and I had a hand screwdriver. If you've never broken a screw inside of something, count yourself lucky. Because I've done that before… I was extremely slow and very careful. I removed the four screws on the outside of my ring and the four screws underneath the gas cap. I removed my old gas cap area and popped in the new. This gas cap cover had to be wiggled into place. I was unable to remove the cover from the rest of the housing. So I installed it as one piece. I loosened the four screws around the outside like the instructions said but was afraid I would bend or break the cap off. I left it as one piece and simply wedged it into place. I had no issues after that. I put the four screws (provided in the package) on the inside where the gas cap goes to secure it to where you fill your gas. Once those were attached I took an allen key and tightened back the four screws on the outside. With the way that I installed it, I likely could have just left those on the whole time. The instructions told me to take them off and I am a person who listens to instructions LOL As this is the first day of it being put on I haven't filled up any gas or driven with it yet. I will update my review accordingly if anything happens. My gas cap does not lock. (I also didn't buy the locking one) However it looks a lot better! I'm hoping that the color does not fade, but for the price I paid I think it's worth it overall. It gives it a very clean look and it makes the Jeep seem... Classier? I'm not sure yet. Definitely more updated looking than before. ... show more

  • Great fit, easy to install!
Fits perfectly on my 2005 Jeep LJ. Easy install from outside without having to reach in behind the quarter panel. Looks and fits perfectly, I like that the inner liner actually clicks into place.

  • Tricky to install properly, but a nice looking addition
I liked this cover because of the textured finish compared to many others out there with the smooth powder coat. Black powder coat can start to discolor over time, and it's difficult to freshen up later. This particular assembly uses the 3 screws around the filler neck to fasten, but also has 4 plastic fingers that pop out behind the fuel filler hole in the quarter-panel sheetmetal to make it rigid. The difficulty in assembly is with those plastic fingers. Instinct tells you to push harder on the flange ring, but since the flange is already up against the sheet metal it can't flex enough for the fingers to engage. Instead, open the door and use a flat-blade screwdriver; place the blade in the small pocket at the base of the finger and tap it lightly with a hammer to get the fingers to pop behind the sheet metal. Once that was done, the assembly is rock solid. Should you ever have to remove it, there is space to place a screwdriver behind the finger to pry it inward to release. Installation took me about 20 minutes including troubleshooting the finger situation; 3 screws to remove the old OEM filler cowl, 3 screws and some light tapping to get the new one in. Looks nice, is heavy enough for the application, and not a killer on the pocketbook...that about all we can ask for! ... show more

  • Quick and easy to install on a Wrangler TJ.
I'm very pleased with this filler door. The plastics around my fuel cap on my older '98 TJ had gotten cracked and faded over the years. This fuel door was a great replacement. As others have mentioned...the instructions were somewhat complicated - but the process to install this was simple. Basically remove the 4 screws on the outside of the existing fuel fill plastics, then remove the 4 screws nearest the gas cap on the existing fuel fill plastics. The old plastics come out easily after removal of these 8 screws - the new fuel door then replaces it and is attached to only the 4 screws nearest the gas cap. The door looks great and seems to be sturdy, so it should hold up for years to come. ... show more

  • Not sure what happened
I don't know if this was broken when it arrived, or if it broke as I was installing it. Either way, it shouldn't have broken. I didn't beat on it with a hammer or kick it, but the door broke off before I could use it. I'm bummed, because it looks nice & seems like it'd be pretty sturdy once installed. Don't worry, I'll get over it, I'll just need to make a few trips to a therapist. I returned this item, but will get another one because it does look nice & seems like it would be nice if it was in one piece. UPDATE: I got another one, but it doesn't fit my 2004 Sahara. There's a piece of the body right where the top center tab needs to hook to the fender. It can't be turned upside down due to the angle of the filler. Bummer! I'm even more depressed that I was after the first one broke. :( ... show more
