What I like: The fishing hook remover features great functionality. I like the powerful plier-like gripping action of the product. The tool seems durable and built to last. What I don't like: The product somehow made it through the Quality Control Department, and probably shouldn't have. Apparently, my tool was produced in a hasty manner, as a good deal of the tool's frame features some very sharp edges. In fact, the edges are sharp enough that I'm not going to be using this product until I've had a chance to either file-down the sharp edges, or maybe use some plastic tool dipping product in an attempt to cover the sharp edges for my own safety. I would consider ordering this item again if only they would improve their production quality, and I wish I could offer 5 stars, but I can't, as the sharp edges are an issue for me.

Got this in case I gut hook some trout. I have pliers but these will work when those can not. They function great. Since I'm using it for freshwater I can't comment on rust. This hook remover is a lightweight tool with a simple, functional design so there is not much to get wrong. It weighs exactly 114g or about 4 oz. I carry it with me on each outing. Overall, I'd recommend these.

Not much to say in a review of these. They work as advertised. They are made of a heavier aluminum than others I have had and are more sturdy. When using them you are able to get a good grip on the hook as the handholds provide a good amount of leverage. Great product!

I'm regularly getting a fish on the line that has gone and swallowed my entire hook. I don't want the fishy to have any damage from the hook, and I can't let a fish go with the hook inside him/her. So, this fishing tool comes to the rescue. It's a solid construction of aluminum. The spring loaded jaws are open by default until you squeeze the handle. Then the jaws have little grip teeth on there that will grab a hold of the hook and make it easier to remove from deep inside the fish's throat without harming the fish any more. The handle is offset a good six inches, so I can use this from a Bass to a Shark, and most times, the hook will not be any further away from the mouth opening than 6 inches. The tool is light enough to throw in your back pocket or in the side of a tackle bag for easy transport. This will be a permanent tool in my fishing bag moving forward!
