The brackets, gas spring struts and instructions are all top quality, and everything fit perfectly. Installation is simple and if you need the instructions, they are complete and easy to follow. Other reviewers have complained about the accuracy of the instructions, so maybe the seller listened and updated them. I looked at the instructions briefly before beginning the installation and have no complaints about them. Installation took me about 20 minutes on a 2025 Toyota 4Runner Limited i-Force MAX (so the installation utilized the existing bolts - the bolts included with the kit were not needed). After installing the first strut onto the installed upper (hood) and lower (engine compartment) brackets, the hood stayed up just fine. After installing the second piston, with a perfect amount of downward force, the hood lowered just fine. Raising the hood again, the gas spring struts began assisting with the lift at approximately 1/3 of the way up. Utilizing this kit made the hood easier to lift and far more convenient than needing to use the prop rod included with all versions of this vehicle (a stupid and cheap move by Toyota!). Everything included is black (except the bolts, which appear to be bare stainless steel), and it all looks great. After a week and several times raising and lowering the hood, everything works great. Of course, there's no way to determine how the gas spring struts will last, but because they are easily replaced (if necessary), that's not a huge issue. I have no reason to believe they won't last a long time. To complete the installation I utilized a 3/8" socket wrench with a 12mm socket and a 3" or 6" extension (I don't remember which) and a ratcheting 12mm wrench (a standard 12mm open or closed end wrench could be used - the ratchet just worked faster). The entire installation could have been accomplished with just a standard 12mm open/closed end wrench, if necessary. I don't know why anyone would spend more, in some instances more than twice as much, for another product that does the exact same thing as this product, but because I don't like wasting money, I bought this one. And I'm 100% pleased with what I received!

Overall satisfied. Bracket installation took 10 minutes on 2024 Tacoma (non-hybrid). Instructions were simple, pictures excellent. Only 4 stars for 2 reasons: Gas spring was impossible to compress by hand and length of strut was greater than factory hood support, so only way to install was to hold the hood up high with one hand while snapping rod end onto bracket balls one side at a time. Make sure the threaded rod encs are on tight, then spin the rod to align with bracket balls. Be sure to wiggle them on (as instructed) until they snap on (do not force on). Gas spring has plenty of push to both help raise then fully support the hood.
