  • A Captivating Journey into a World of Dynamic Characters and Intriguing Plot
Title and Author: Honey by Mariel Pomeroy Star Rating: 5/5 Spice Rating:5 /5 (Several explicit scenes, a variety of adventurous acts, dotted throughout the book.) Characters 10/10: The characters in this story exhibit remarkable dynamism and depth. Pomerory skillfully crafted personalities with such richness that they felt like real individuals to me. My connection extended beyond the main characters, encompassing every individual in the narrative, and I found myself cheering for each one, including Koutávi. Atmosphere/Setting 10/10: I immersed myself in this world, visualizing it like a movie in my mind. It's challenging to convey the vividness of the scenes and the tangible reality of the world as I read. Writing Style 10/10: The writing style motivated me to reconsider my own writing approach and seek out authors with a comparable style. I discovered that experiencing the characters firsthand didn't necessarily require a first-person point of view. Plot 10/10: Pacing was perfect, I finished the book in 2 days and immediately picked up the second as soon as it was done. I was so invested in the plot HOWEVER THE CLIFFHANGER WAS DISRESPECTFUL! Intrigue 10 /10: This book captivated my attention exceptionally well, a task that can be somewhat challenging. The narrative's ability to engage and maintain my interest throughout proved to be quite remarkable. Logic/Relationship 10/10: I find the logic within the world of this book to be coherent, although I'm still navigating through the intricacies as we delve deeper into the series. Despite the ongoing discovery process, I am thoroughly enjoying every piece of information I come across. The narrative, settings, motives, and backgrounds of all the characters make perfect sense and contribute to the overall coherence of the story. Enjoyment 10/10: I have a deep desire to relive the first-time magic of reading this book, given how truly remarkable and captivating the experience was. ... show more

  • I am looking forward to the next book because that cliffhanger be cliffhangering!
“She’d stop. She’d plug the walls with grout so nothing passed through because if she let herself feel this, it would consume her.”—‘Honey; Agía Sahnta Book 2’ by Mariel Pomeroy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This second installment of what is to be a trilogy surrounds a seemingly ordinary Mithra named Aheia and the demon collector of souls Arioch. Without giving anything away, essentially our main character runs away from her realm of light and descends into the dark where she seeks asylum in exchange for her soul. It is only through death that the truth then starts to come to light. The writing is just beautiful in the way that the author pulls you seamlessly through different realms and what feels like various dimensions. The beginning and end especially felt like a paint brush was being swept across my mind as this story was unfurled then folded back up again. As an indie author myself I am always down to support a fellow indie, but Mrs. Ma’am here DESERVES the hype and praise she receives. The imagery is stunning, the characters are literally all their own main character which I love because it makes them feel like fully realized individuals. The spicy scene do not hold back which I live for. There is also a very refreshing amount of representation for the alphabet mafia ✨ As for why I only gave ‘Honey’ four out of five stars, I felt like there was a lot trying to be worked in all at once while also having a tendency to be a little repetitive. Now with that said the repetitiveness is forgivable in the sense that it’s purpose, from what I gathered, was to illicit the emotions of the characters within the reader which I totally get. Another thing that pulled me out were more modern aspects being used, such as blue raspberry syrup and motorcycle-like machinery. It just felt out of place in my humble opinion. I am looking forward to the next book because that cliffhanger be cliffhangering! ... show more

  • Read. This. Book.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ “She needed him to lose something the way she’d lost. Kept losing. Over and over again. Little parts of herself. When would it be enough? When would she disappear completely as strips of her skin were pulled from her body to clothe others?” How do you describe a summary of a book that is too alive, real, and vital for a summary? I’m not going to attempt it. This book wrecked me in the best way. When reading the intentions at the beginning of this book, I had a hard time understanding what Mar meant. What does that look like? Will I understand the intended message in the words? I felt it. I saw it. I lived it. This book was written to be understood. Understood in a way that I hadn’t thought possible. I’ve felt other books. I’ve envisioned other books. I’ve even felt like I was living them. This book though. I have never had such an experience while reading. I connected in a way that I didn’t realize I needed. The words and imagery Mar uses in this book… It’s hard to describe. I’d even say that I can’t describe them. This book must be experienced. I’m not sure I will ever have quite the same experience reading another book ever again. But, never say never. I have faith that Mar will deliver again but even if not, I will feel complete in my life as a reader having journeyed through this book. ... show more
