This worked perfect for me! I have a Bush lateral file cabinet, which has drawers that are 26.5 inches wide and 15.25 deep that are designed to allow either legal hanging files going sideways (hanging on the front and back rails) or two rows of letter hanging files going front to back (hanging from each side of the drawer and on two cross rails that attach to the front and back rails of the drawer.) The problem is that the file cabinet came with plastic hang rails which very quickly bend under the weight of the files and cause them to sag. This in turn causes the files to be sitting on the bottom of the drawer toward the middle and then they come off the rails and you get the idea-just a mess. Although my drawers currently used two separate rails, I looked at both options of the Hon rails and initially ordered the "U" shape ones for 40" files, as many people stated in the Q&A section that they were 1.5" wide, which would have worked perfectly in my drawers because that was exactly where my two separate rails were sitting apart from each other. However, when I got them they were only 1.25" wide and would not work. I then ordered the ones for 30" and 36" files, which are more like the design of the ones I had in the drawers and they worked perfectly! The are exactly as long as the hangers on a legal file folder and simply sit on the front and back rails of the drawer. You then hang your files between the sides of the drawer and the rails. It takes a little research to figure out from the description how they could work in situations other than the cabinets they were specifically designed for, but once you figure it out they may be exactly what you need, and in my case, absolutely perfect! ... show more

    • Perfect fit for my HON lateral file cabinet

Out of personal preference, I had wanted to align my lateral file to have front-to-back filing instead of side-to-side. I had read somewhere that doing so could increase the overall filing capacity. I'm not sure if that is true or not. Regardless, I find it easier to file or search front-to-back files. The fit of these HON rails inside my 30" wide lateral file was perfect. No complaints there. It would have been nice, however, to have a tiny bit of instruction on how best to install the rails. For example, once installed, the only thing to keep the rails from sliding around are the hanging file folders themselves. Is that right? Are there some additional clips that I am supposed to purchase and install? I'll see how it goes, but a picture with a couple of sentences would have been nice to have. ... show more

    • Way too expensive for what I actually is

So.....I bought these for an Ikea filing cabinet that I bought used. It apparently comes with them but we're not included. Here's the thing, they work as intended. And they work well. The issue I have is that they are way to expensive for what they are. Now that is not a negative towards the product itself but more against the seller. I get it.......you charge what people will pay. He'll I bought them, but, $33 for a couple pieces of angle iron? Anyway. Functionally they work flawlessly. Would I buy again...no way..just head to your local home improvement store and you could get this for a few bucks. ... show more

I have a couple of older lateral file cabinets that I needed front to back inserts for. Found these on Amazon. They fit perfectly, the shipping was super fast. My only complaint is that for a few pieces of bent metal, they're a bit pricey (hence only four stars). Price aside, I can definitely recommend these. ... show more

I needed something to convert my legal/later filing cabinet to a front-facing letter file one. These were just a tad short for my filing cabinet, but once I put files on them, it kept the hook in place. The nice thing is that I can have one row of front-facing files while keeping the other section of the drawer for the legal-size files that I already had set up. ... show more

These bars correctly served their purpose in that they convert a long lateral drawer into a divided drawer, enabling the user to turn their folders face-forward. But the bar is wider than the spacers in my drawer so I was only able to put them into the center section - not allowing me to use them for my purpose; I needed to use them with my letter sized hanging folders and inserts. I love their purpose and how strong they are. Just be careful when ordering. These HON 919491 single cross rails for 30" and 36" lateral files are about 1 1/2" wide. So the specs on my order should be closest to the 1" wide measurement instead. ... show more
