When the cross braces and the shelves are screwed in tight, it's a very sturdy unit. And it looks good too. I've got two more coming in the next few days, and I will definitely be buying them again. So 5 stars for the design, look, and sturdiness. Minus 1 star for the instructions. I ended up building the shelves roughly two and a half times because I tried to follow the instructions. My advice is to throw them in the trash and then use the picture in the product description as your guide. The key is to get the holes for the cross braces in the back. When you're first putting the unit together, it's not obvious there is a front and back. Once I ditched the instructions and looked at the picture, it was pretty easy to figure everything out. Just leave everything loose-ish until you've got the unit completely put together so you have leeway to get screws set in the holes straight. ... show more

This shelf looks really nice as a makeshift bookcase or organizing shelf for little nick-nacks. The "wooden" planks are actually a well wrapped plater board like substance. They hold up really well so long as you don't not let them soak in any kind of liquid via spillage. (If you are going to put a humidifier or a oil defuser on the shelf, make sure its on the top most one to ensure you don't ruin the boards! ... show more

Pretty easy to put together, just make sure you have the screw holes lined up as the instructions aren’t especially clear. But overall an easy build and a pleasing shelf that looks just like the pictures. Would definitely buy again!
