Fairly easy to assemble if you pay very close attention to the instructions and the positions of holes that will be important down the road. Else, you may have to disassemble and reassemble it a few times to get everything lined up. In the end, very solid and very nice looking... from the front. I was disappointed to find that the back is just cardboard and the edges, which are visible on either side, don't match the bookcase. I colored the edges with a black sharpie because I didn't want to see an 1/8" strip of brown cardboard down the sides of the bookshelf. I was also disappointed to find that the back, which is made up of two panels, is taped together with a wide strip of brown paper tape. Very good glue on the tape so it is very hard to take off. It won't come off in one piece. I had to peel off dozens of short chunks and then use an adhesive remover to get rid of the glue residue. I don't know why they don't use tape that matches the color of the bookcase or just give you two panels to screw on.
