Alright y'all, don't laugh at me! I didn't order enough and it ended up patchy. You must have the patience of a saint and the precision of a brain surgeon to get this on neatly! I'm not gonna lie it was a struggle for me to do it on my own. It's thick and very sticky so you must lay the first piece down as perfectly as possible. That's where I messed up. My first piece was off by an almost imperceptible amount and it threw off the whole counter top. The roll is rolled up so tightly that it won't unroll very well and makes it difficult to work with. I'll be ordering more and starting over I think. The marbling is beautiful!

Love the look of the marble pattern. I used this one because it incorporated a little brown in the pattern to tie in my brown cabinets with the kitchen better. My only gripe was that the first batch I bought of this was TERRIBLE trying to peel the backing off. It kept tearing in small pieces making it hard to apply the paper on my own. I had to get someone to help me tear the backing off while I smoothed it down. I ordered more and that batch worked perfect without any tearing of the backing. Came off super easy and I could do it myself. I am updating my kitchen on a budget and used this to cover up my ugly yellow counters. I used the wider 34.5" roll so there would be no unsightly seams. I applied the paper lengthwise down the length of the counters and wrapped the excess under the edges. Highly recommend doing that for counters instead of the small rolls that cause you to have a ton of ugly seams like alot of people on here seem to have done.. I used super glue to make it stick under the counters because it wouldn't on its own. I used an exacto knife to cut everything precisely and a spackling tool to smooth the paper down. Then I caulked around the sink and along the edges where it meets the wall and applied 3 coats of a water based polyurethane product to protect it from daily use and give it a nice gloss/sheen. Came out really nice! Still have other updates to do, but the counter transformation itself made a huge difference! UPDATE (10/7) - it's been about 4 months and everything is still holding up really nicely. I would say maybe just add some little felt pads to the footing of appliances or items on the counter to make it less likely to leave dents or marks from prolonged sitting or sliding across counters. For instance my paper towel holder has metal feet on the bottom that have caused minor imprints into the surface. But other than that, no complaints. Easy to clean with soap/water or just plain water. No staining even if not cleaned up right away. There have been wine and coffee drips left for a few days that I didn't notice and they easily still wiped off with just water. Not sure if it would perform this well without the polyurethane coating, so I'm glad I took this extra step to protect the paper. Still happy with my decision!

We are renovating our rent trailer and while the counter tops weren’t in bad condition, they looked horrible when we painted the cabinets and redid the floors. So we started looking at countertop options that wouldn’t break the bank or require us to saw off the countertops (they’re made not to fall off so it would be a rough demo and probably make us rebuild some cabinetry which sounds like death). I found someone did something like unto this! They got vinyl/contact paper with a fun design and stuck it on and it looked great! Some tips with working with this product: Start in the further most corner, and peel the paper back as you go. If you precut there is a grid patterned on the back paper that helps with straight lines, but don’t peel until you have a set corner and you know your edges are straight! Make sure you have some kind of smoothing tool and an exactoknife or razor blade. Something sharp and precise to cut perfect corners and lines -it’s easy to cut, but if your tool isn’t sharp it won’t cut cleanly. I got a “smoothing tool set” here on Amazon that was about $6-$8 and it came with an exactoknife that worked beautifully! It also came with two smoothing tools: a large red one and a small blue one with a softer, fuzzy edge (great for smoothing wrinkles without ripping). It’s best to have two people, one to set the corner and then begin smoothing with the tool, and the other to hold the opposite end straight and peel back the paper as you go. The paper did rip easily so every now and again if we didn’t start with a clean peel it would rip and we would wonder why it wasn’t sticking 😂 so make sure you listen for ripping paper sounds! This paper is thick, waterproof (I cleaned it with a multi-purpose spray and it worked beautifully!), and beautiful! The patterned is a gold veined marble and it’s gorgeous! (See pictures) Also, you don’t have to get a smoothing tool set, but it was so much simpler with one! If you have anything that works like a smoothing tool, maybe a ruler or anything with a flat edge that won’t cut, it just prevents those bubbles and helps it lay flat. I have not tried putting this on a wall, I did it for countertops but I imagine putting it on a wall so long as it is smooth, would be fairly easy. Just line up the edges and corners. Highly recommend for any project and/or upgrade! 🥰

So the look and finish of this contact paper is really beautiful, but that's about all I was pleased with. Applying this stuff on definitely takes 2 people, but only those with the strongest of relationships should attempt because the frustration was real. It took us an hour and a half to get just the trim pieces on a small nook counter in our basement. When working out wrinkles, you had to be careful not to press too hard because it would rip which is not ideal for something so finicky. AND THEN it was peeling up by the next day. We ended up just taking it off and using a stone paint refinishing kit. A bit more expensive, but I'd pay that money just to never have to attempt putting contact paper on a counter again.
