When I first opened the packages for the two shelving units I purchased, and emptied everything out, I was shocked that there weren't any instructions in either package. In frustration, I sent a 1-star seller feedback with my complaint. Shame on me; I eventually found the instructions in-between the shelves, so I'm happy to now write this 5 star review! There were a few issues, such as some of the pieces had bent parts that I had to fix with pliers, but once the unit was built I was very pleased. The seller includes a rubber mallet, and a clip to connect two units, which I was so happy to use. The instructions are very easy to understand, the metal material for the frame is very sturdy, however the actual board for the shelves are a little thin and I was worried that they wouldn't be strong, but they hold up very well. It took me about 30 minutes to build the first unit, as I made a few mistakes, but I built the second unit in about 15 minutes and didn't need to use the instructions. A tip; once you build the outer frame, connect the other pieces in opposites, ie: attach the right side, then the left side as you build the shelf pieces so that the unit does not bend and warp. I built my unit so that the shelves sit inside the supports rather than on top of them and I highly recommend this, as it's much sturdier this way. I was also happy to find that one side of the shelf was faux wood and the other side white, which I preferred. A tip; if you decide to use the white side, place all but the very top shelf with the white side up, and the very top shelf with the wood side up so that you see white as you walk by, ie: it's the only shelf you'll see the underside of. There is also an annoying non-removable Prop 65 sticker on the white side, but I used this shelf at the very bottom so I wouldn't see it. I highly recommend these shelves, they are good looking, sturdy and well made. ... show more

I bought two of these and thry do look nice. The setup was easy. One you do one, you'll be able to do it again easily. I did it myself both times. I do suggest watching the video found by scanning the QR code in the instructions. The video has some tricks that are useful like using the shelf beam to help pound the grey pieces into place. I also like that a mallet was included and they give enough feet to make two small shelving units if you'd like. I gave 4 stars because both units arrived with all wood colored shelves having at least one corner damaged. It seems to be from the way they're packaged. I tried putting the worst ones at the very top and bottom, damaged corners in the back so it's less noticeable. The edges of the wood shelves are visible making it easy to see the damage. The edges would also look better if they were finished in some way. Next, the shelves are about 1/4" thick and somewhat flexible. With no center cross supports, I doubt these would hold the advertised 200+lbs. However, I have filled mine with some heavier items - say 40lbs or so - and it's held up fine. If you need super heavy duty, this may not be the best option. If you're stacking canned goods, you should be fine. My last not picky point is that in the advertising it shows the top shelf at the very top, with the white feet. It looks clean and nice. However, this didn't seem to work out for me. Once the feet are in the shelf doesn't have enough space to sit flat. Put the shelf on first and the feet won't go in. It's probably possible to trim the feet or shelf a bit to make them fit but it'd be nice if it just worked as shown. ... show more

Overall, the shelving unit is reasonably sturdy and adjustable. My primary reasons for purchasing this particular one were the overall dimensions, ability to adjust the shelves to any height, and the clean design. The first two turned out to be as described, however, the product's visual design has changed and the pictures on Amazon are incorrect as of the posting of this review. The seller's customer service was very helpful and responsive and informed me that the product was recently redesigned to prevent damage during shipping, but the product pictures are not yet updated. The pictures show a very clean design, however the actual product has small curved protrusions at the corners of the shelves where they meet the legs. This design detail ruins the clean look of the unit as they are quite visible on all sides of every shelf on the portion that faces outward. Had I known this, I wouldn't have purchased it. Another thing to keep in mind is the weight capacity of each shelf. Although each shelf is indicated to hold 264 pounds distributed, you might be led to think that means that it could easily handle something that's 60 pounds. The actual situation is that the 264 pounds has to be distributed, meaning you can't have a 60 pound item in the middle of the shelf. The shelves themselves are very thin and can't hold very much weight unless the item is also sitting at the very edges where the metal frame is offering support. I inquired with the seller if I could put a 60 pound mini fridge on the shelf and they said I couldn't. Once I assembled it, I realized that there was no way it would support 60 pounds unless the weight was being supported by the metal frame of the shelf, meaning the fridge had to be sitting evenly distributed across the frame as well as the wood, which really doesn't support much of the weight on its own. Of course, with a mini fridge, the dimensions would not allow for even distribution of the 60 pounds. The company did offer to let me return it if I didn't like it. In the end, to avoid the hassle of packaging and returning it, I decided to keep it and get a few more to match. They are fairly good shelving units, but keep this design change in mind in case visual design is an important criteria for you. ... show more
