So I'm actually not using this as a coffee table, but instead am using it as a center table for my home theater. Space is limited in NYC so I can't house a regular TV stand as the length would be too long and would block the entry way to the bedrooms. I also have a beastly center speaker with an AV receiver and amp that weighs 140+ pounds... most traditional TV stands in smaller dimensions are simply too tall and/or too cheap. Hence, I ended up utilizing coffee tables of this size as my TV stand. My search was complicated by the fact that I needed clearance in the bottom for my heavy duty AV equipment. I originally had just a standard cheapo $40 coffee table. It was the only one that fit the dimensions I needed. After a year, it started to bow from the weight of my center speaker. It also did not have any storage. It was just a simple table, so all the ugly AV wires from behind were exposed. I looked into hiring a custom furniture maker to get me a high quality center TV stand that fit the exact dimensions I needed. However, the total cost for that would near into the thousands mark. I knew there had to be something out there. Lo and behold, the Amazon algorithmic gods answered my prayers. This randomly popped up in my search. It fit all the dimensions I required to a tee! The only question was... would it be any good? Shipment actually arrived 3 days early via FedEX. The box was a little beat up, but all contents inside were protected and present. The particle boards seems very sturdy and super high quality. They're comparable to iKea's MALM furniture which I have some of in my bedroom. Those I've had for years and are still going strong, so I am hoping this coffee table will be the same. A Phillips screw driver is really the only necessary tool to build the unit. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. If you're any sort of handyman, this shouldn't take more than an hour to assemble solo. At some point, I'll probably use my hole saw to pass wires in the back so I can utilize the table storage for more AV equipment. If I had a bigger living room, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a second one and use it as my actual coffee table. The hinge to prop up the table to eating height looks like such a convenient and fun feature to have... but alas, no space for a second table. So in conclusion, I highly recommend this table. ... show more

This table looks and feels like an Ikea-quality table, but it has the raising mechanism that we wanted to eat dinner in front of the TV. When we first got it, we put a few items inside the storage area to make the table feel more anchored down when we lifted the top. It is not a one-finger motion by any means to open or close the table, but it's a fairly smooth motion. Sometimes it seems like we need to lift from both sides equally to avoid issues - it sometimes feels difficult or makes a creaky sound if we don't lift it properly. But overall, especially for the price, this is exactly what I wanted and what I hoped I was getting. Now that we have had it for several months, it does seem like the tabletop is not exactly level, but we haven't noticed an issue with that other that visually wondering, "Is it tilted a little bit?" I am satisfied with this purchase, and if this one broke after a year or two, I'd probably buy another one to replace it. We get so much use out of it. ... show more

I bought two of them, and I put them together in about an hour. If you've ever put together IKEA or Walmart furniture, then you are set. Everything went together pretty smoothly without any issues. Flash forward about two weeks, and I was dragging one of them across my floor and caught it on a heat vent and broke one of the legs off. I contacted the seller and asked how to go about purchasing a replacement leg, and they told me that since I had purchased it less than a year ago, they would send me a free replacement! Even though I told them that I broke it. They sent me a replacement top instead of a leg, and when I contacted them to let them know I received the wrong part, they told me to keep it and they sent me the part I needed. Awesome, right?! It gets better... Whilst fixing the broken leg, my clumsy ass broke another leg on the other side! Now, this was totally my fault, and in no way reflects the quality of the furniture. It is made of what looks like particle board, but that's pretty much what bargain price furniture is made of nowadays. Anyways, I let them know that I had broken the other one and that I would totally understand if they charged me for a replacement, this time, but nope! They sent me ANOTHER replacement for free! I have to say, I am EXTREMELY happy with this seller and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for some handsome, inexpensive furniture. ... show more

Not the best in the world, but for the price it works alright for me. It's really not too shabby. It allows me to sit on my couch and watch my TV while eating something, lol. Also, it is the perfect height. I knew that going into it. I specifically bought it because the extended height was high enough for me. Some others I saw are not. It lifts and closes pretty easily and softly both ways. It could use some weight in it, but what i do is just put my feet wrapped around the two closest legs when closing. It does work well though. The cam screws are visible underneath and inside it, but no biggie. I added felt feet to the bottom of the wooden legs. This is standard Chinese furniture of the times we live in.
