Description

The 20" Steel flat top tool box is manufactured using the highest grade of raw materials available. A steel latch mechanism secures the toolbox. From the Manufacturer Homak Manufacturing was founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign that Sigmund saw on a hat store. Originally a manufacturer of steel kitchen cabinets, Homak Expanded its product offerings in the 1960s to included a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. Homak's hardware line remained strong and was accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's death in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, ran the company for 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line with automotive, hospital, and sporting goods. In January of 2005 Homak was acquired by JVA and moved its office to western Pennsylvania. Its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak emphasizes tool storage and gun cabinet security. The full product line consists of hand-carry toolboxes, tool bags, parts organizers, tool storage cabinets, workbenches, garage furniture, safety cabinets, spill containment systems, P.B & E. products, steel lockers, gun cabinets, fire-resistant safes, ammo storage boxes and accessories. Each item is manufactured to exceed customer's expectations, and to provide strength and dependability to the customer.

I wanted a toolbox for around my house to hold your average tools (hammers, screwdriver, pry bar, tape measure, etc) and to keep them all in one place. This is exactly what I was looking for, an inexpensive toolbox that can accommodate all of your everyday tools for around the house jobs. I knew for the price I wasn't getting anything fancy or well made but I can tell this box is not very well made. It is perfect for a household toolbox but for anything more, I would spend a bit more money. The toolbox includes a removable drawer to hold your smaller tools which is nice, as well as two clasps that hold the lid closed, each with separate loopholes for a lock to slip through. All in all, if all you are looking for is a simple place to store your tools and possibly to lock them up, this is perfect. If you are looking for a superior construction than pass on this or you will be disappointed. ... show more

I bought this toolbox to keep my tools squared away at home. CONSTRUCTION: The toolbox is put together fairly well. The corners arent sharp and it doesnt really feel flimsy. The latches, however do feel like they wouldnt be able to support much weight. Also, when you have it loaded up and lift the toolbox, you can feel the metal on the top part where the handle is connected pulling up. It is not a big problem for me, but if you were to load it up with really heavy tools, who knows. PACKAGING: It arrived well packaged and was in perfect condition. I was worried about dents, but it was good to go. PRICE: At just shy of $50.00 this is an awesome buy. CONCLUSION: I'd recommend this product for home use and regular tools, but if you are a professional who needs a tough box for heavy tools it might be better to go with something else ... show more

A nice, solid and basic toolbox to keep miscellaneous tools organized and carry around where needed. The box is a bit retro, made of all metal with a roomy, metal insert tray. There is plenty of clearance underneath the tray, leaving room for the bulkier items. The handle seems fine and the latches seem sturdy. I read in earlier reviews the packaging wasn't very strong and that one customer received a damaged item. I would agree and the reason for only four stars. The packaging seemed a bit thin, especially considering the weight of the toolbox. Inside packaging seemed sufficient and protected the corners and surfaces. My toolbox was in perfect condition.
