Description

Designed for the professional these toolboxes feature drawer liners, .8mm metal thickness and a solid industrial quality construction. From the Manufacturer Homak Manufacturing was founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign that Sigmund saw on a hat store. Originally a manufacturer of steel kitchen cabinets, Homak Expanded its product offerings in the 1960s to included a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. Homak's hardware line remained strong and was accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's death in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, ran the company for 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line with automotive, hospital, and sporting goods. In January of 2005 Homak was acquired by JVA and moved its office to western Pennsylvania. Its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak emphasizes tool storage and gun cabinet security. The full product line consists of hand-carry toolboxes, tool bags, parts organizers, tool storage cabinets, workbenches, garage furniture, safety cabinets, spill containment systems, P.B & E. products, steel lockers, gun cabinets, fire-resistant safes, ammo storage boxes and accessories. Each item is manufactured to exceed customer's expectations, and to provide strength and dependability to the customer.

Do you know how hard it is to find an all metal toolbox in this size? Nearly impossible. My father-in-law asked for an all metal toolbox in this size to replace an old Craftsman with a broken latch. He specified that the box and the tray needed to both be metal (he uses it for sockets and socket wrenches and it needed to be able to hold the weight without breaking.) I searched the big box home stores and their websites, the local hardware stores, Sears, you name it, I was there. It's nearly impossible to find an all metal toolbox this size anymore. If the outside is all metal (not trimmed with it, but made of metal,) the tray was plastic! Sigh. Amazon led me to this box and the reviews weren't bad so, I figured, why not? HUGE win. Great toolbox (and my contractor father-in-law agrees) - sturdy, the right size, all metal, nice craftsmanship, not overly heavy (or light) for the size, and durable so far. I'll update if anything significant changes but I'm very pleased with my purchase, highly recommend. ... show more

This tool box is awesome. But it is kinda heavy without tool's , if you want cheap , and something that wont last ,don't get this tool box. This tool box will last pretty much along long time ,if you take care of it. We use it for a Barber box. The old, 2 boxes were plastic, of course they broke. But this metal box is it . I'm 45 and have gone through a ton of plastic tool boxes in my life. Never had a good solid one until now. I decided I was finally going to step up and get a quality toolbox despite the fact I'm really not really the handyman type. I've just collected quite a few tools over the years and I'm tired of the plastic ones wearing out. I almost stepped up and bought one that was close to $200, but based on the reviews on this particular tool box, I decided it would be of sufficient quality. It's strong, the latches are positive, and I don't feel like my tools are going to drop out of the bottom. There's a nice top tray with an angled divider for a set of sockets. The unit is good quality, plenty of room, the drawback they send it in a very light cardboard box, not much protection. So unless you got some good shippers and handlers expect some damage. All four corners of my box are torn and bent from being tossed around, and some paint missing. The thing is, I was surprised there wasn't more damage due to their history out here. My Homak 20” Industrial toolbox arrived in good condition, though the front accessory lock buckle had punched through the cardboard there was no damage to the toolbox. My toolbox seems to be in good condition, built straight and aligned properly. This toolbox seems to be made with heavy gauge steel, has noticeable heft even when empty and confidently carries my sockets and torque wrenches without any signs of straining under the 52lbs total weight, so far. Size: 32-Inch
Two of the photos are the 24". The one of the 32" has the handles on the end and the partial width tray. This is a well-made box. Heavy gauge, quality fitting, and a good finish. The finish seals the interior. Four plastic corner protectors are supplied but you need to glue them in place yourself. The box is so big that the end handles are a necessity. It would be nice if the center handle was recessed but not a deal breaker. The tray is a little more than half the width of the box so it can be slid to the side to access the space below. The tray is almost entirely contained in the lid so the entire bottom part is available for tools. The lid fits tight with a full width piano hinge and has no play. The latches are all metal and hook snug. If you're strong enough the center handle will lift it but loaded up it weighs a ton. I couldn't find it in the description but the info that came with it says it has a lifetime warranty. Not cheap but built last. ... show more
