It worked, but the little fan would rattle and whine too much for my taste, and it’s readings were up to 50% off from my other equipments. Ended up returning. It’s a good size (small) and uses the cheap and easily found CR 2032 battery though.

I'm an amateur astronomer and wind speed is an important environmental factor that affects the quality of the images I take. It is important that wind speed for my particular equipment not exceed about 1.5 mph. This little gadget tells me the instantaneous wind speed and the maximum wind speed and that's all I need to know. Please note that the device works by the wind moving a propeller, so the measurement is directional. You will be getting the wind speed in whatever direction you hold the device. If you need to know the wind speed independent of direction, you may want to consider another device (such as a hot-wire anemometer) that reads wind speed in all directions. ... show more

it works and shows wind speed and temp. the sensors aren't terribly accurate. i compared it to a more expensive calibratable unit and it differs +/- 10~15 percent. i think the plastic fan wheel is sorta cheaply made and friction in the pin/axle causes irregular spin speed and vibration causing poor accuracy. ... show more
