    • Strong smell, but comfortable

I got these because Hoka One One are some of the only shoes I can wear to deal with pain from arthritis in one foot and plantar fasciitis in the other. I wish the slides came in half sizes, because they are a tad big for me in my size - but I give them a pass on that, since they are designed for after-activity recovery. The biggest challenge for me has been the very strong chemical smell given off by these sandals. When I opened them I took them to the back porch and left them outside for a few days. Then I sprayed them off with the hose for a half hour, and left them in the lawn for a day. They still smell too much to be kept in the bedroom, so they are in the hallway for storage. The smell is less strong now than originally, and it's possible that it will continue to diminish over time, but if I had known how bad it was I may have chosen another option. That said, they are *very* comfortable, and easy to slip on when I get up in the morning. I will be wearing them despite the lingering odor. UPDATE: one month later and the chemical smell is significantly reduced. I can't smell it when I wear them, but can smell it if I get my face within about a foot of the sandals. They are still super comfortable - maybe more so now that they're a bit softened up. I will probably buy a second pair, and leave them on the back porch for several weeks to air out before bringing them inside. SECOND UPDATE, a year later: the smell did eventually go away completely, and the shoes are holding up incredibly well. They are in heavy rotation in the summer and I use them as slippers in the spring and fall. They really are comfortable, and despite the original odor I'd buy them again. They show almost no wear, and have not changed shape or stretched out the way crocs do. ... show more

    • I LOVE these shoes
Wife here. Wonderful arch support - FINALLY, a pair of shoes (I bought for indoors because slippers suck). I am practically crippled without sufficient arch support on hard floors. My feet do not hurt in these shoes and I can walk again, EVERY day. These shoes have wonderful cushioning and great arch support - the best yet. It's such a pleasure to wear these shoes. They aren't pretty, but they provide good support and the rocker sole helps to balance my ankles, which helps tremendously with my knees. They provide so much support that I can even wear them in my work as an LMT. They're pricey, but worth it

I need arch support to stabilize joints, and these work like a dream! I wear them everywhere—sometimes I even forget to take them off when I get in the shower or into bed! It’s gotten weird. I’d highly recommend purchasing these if you’re at all like me and have needs for arch support at home, too!

These sandals, with a proper fit, are wonderfully comfortable for women with high arches. I gave them four stars because they run large, they are overpriced on this site, and they are costly to return. I suggest shopping around and paying attention to the fine print. I found these same sandals at REI on sale for $39 AFTER I had received the ones I ordered from Amazon and discovered they were too big. I usually wear a size 9, but these were too big. There are no half-sizes, so I shopped for an 8, and it fits well. I initiated a return through Amazon, and after being approved for it, I saw that I have to pay shipping + a 15% re-stocking fee because the shoe wasn't defective. For what these slides cost me on Amazon, I could have gotten three pairs from REI. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If you're a frequent Amazon shopper, you know that this is not a typical experience. Most returns are free and easy. I just wanted to warn you that if you order them here and they don't fit, you'll wind up paying even more for these $100 shoes that you can find much cheaper elsewhere. ... show more
