Description

Hodge Silk Swabs are premium swabs made from 100 percent silk for removing moisture from woodwind instruments after each use. Hodge uses silk because it is absorbent, lint-free and compressible. The swabs are large enough to wick the moisture out of the larger part of the bore, but compressible enough to pull through the neck. They pull through the fully assembled instrument. They do not leave lint in the keys. They are not stored inside the instrument so the moisture does not remain. Hodge swabs are regularly recommended by repairmen for optimum care of your instrument. The silk saxophone swabs are designed to go all the way through the fully assembled saxophone. There is no need to remove the neck or carry a separate swab for the neck. This is a great convenience. The tenor saxophone swabs are designed the same as the alto saxophone swabs, but with a longer cord and heavier weight.

  • Works with an alto as well
Size: Original
I've been using this swab for almost a year, Extremely absorbent, cleans entire sax, main body, neck, and mouthpiece, I'm using it on my Yanagisawa W02, I recommend the Tenor size for both Alto and Tenor.

  • Best swab, in general, but nobody makes them perfectly.
Size: Original
This is replacing an older Hodge swab that I had to cut up due to it getting stuck in the neck of my saxophone.. I still don't like them but I haven't come across a better option, unfortunately. I would warn you to remove the neck (of your tenor at least) or be very careful that the cloth does not become bunched up in the body tube of the horn - I damaged my neck a little bit trying to free up the old swab. The silk isn't very absorbent and I still have a lot of moisture stuck in the bow of my saxophone, no matter how many times I run the swab through my saxophone. Swabs are both useless and a necessary evil. ... show more

  • Absorbent and easy to use.
Size: Original
Perfect for the saxophone. The silk splays out to touch the edges of the inside of the instrument easily picks up moisture. The slimness of the silk helps it easily pull through the saxophone. The weight on the end of the pull string is encased and doesn't scratch or dent the instrument.

  • Gets the job done
Size: Original
I'm new to playing the saxophone, so maybe I'm just used to ... more spit on a cloth after I'm done playing? It was highly recommended to me that I get a silk cleaning cloth for my tenor sax. This one is GREAT because the weighted thing at the end of the string makes it significantly easier than any other one I've used to get it through the giant instrument. That said, I find myself running it through my instrument several times because it just doesn't seem to be absorbing very much. I haven't noticed a problem with my pads yet, so I suppose that means it's doing its job! ... show more

  • Very stylish saxophone swab.
Size: Original
A large piece of colorful silk with a very long string attached to a nicely coated weight.

  • Great device!
Size: Original
I like it, I like it a lot. I don't like it so much that I would kiss the inventor, but this thing is a pretty efficient way to clean a saxophone. I run it through my horn a couple of times and just store the swab in the case. It works, and I'd say it's worth the investment.
