  • Solid off-ice handling/shooting pad w/ simple rebounder. Nothing fancy or crappy. No surprises.
The media could not be loaded. I like this stick-handling surface. The rebounder has a good bit of bounce, and the surface seems relatively friction free. The rebounder is very simple (just 2 bolts with a beefy but somewhat thin metal plate between them. I wonder if the bolts might snap through the surface if accidentally stepped on or bonked. If it does, I can just move the rebounder to the opposite side of the board because the board it is drilled on both sides. I wonder if a thin metal platse on the underside to reinforce the bottom wouldn't be beneficial for longterm durability. The surface came with the stickers to stick on to the surface, but I just left them in the box in favoer of a blank board with less potential friction from the stickers. I imagine most of us will use this stick-handling product without taking the step to add the additional alhpabet soup branded sticker, though the brand did manage to gets its branding onto the top of the rebounder. One last note, I started using street pucks instead of ice pucks because they arrived the same day, but it seems that the nubs from the street pucks left some streaks on the handling surface. I'll rub them to see if they go away and I'll test with an ice puck later, and if there are other issues, I'll add that here. For now - I'm pleased to have this stick handling/shooting pad with rebounder here. My old rebounder was a beefy, pricy thing with extendable spikes that could punch into the ice and bounce surfaces on multiple sides, but eventually that seemingly durable piece... snapped in half. And I'm not talking over 20 years. Over a few years, the rebounder broke. I just don't trust rebounder durability anymore. I consider this a stick handling surface that happens to have a rebounder for a few bucks more. With that framing, I can justify the use and expense. And actually... this simple rubber band setup rebounds better than the more robust product I used to use. So really, this seems better in general, though I still expect a shorter lifespan. I certainly wouldn't consider this a rebounder first. Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask away. ... show more

  • Perfect for at home practice
This is perfect. My dad and I both played hockey (ice and inline) and we both gave this a try. He can't get out as much anymore, and lacks a good place to practice at his home. So this serves as a great analog of that. I can say that the surface is very smooth and slides very nicely. Not as good as ice, but better than concrete. Especially if you have teflon street pucks. This works great for practicing puck handling and control. I'm a little concerned about the durability. The surface may wear quickly, as I can scratch it with my fingernail pretty easily. Not too heavy, so it'll be easy for either of us to move it around. A little pricey for what you get, but worth it if you value portability and application. ... show more

  • Great training tool for new players
My daughter just started playing ice hockey this year, and this has been really helpful for her to practice shooting and passing at home. There is some minor assembly required, and an adult is needed to stretch the rubber band for the rebounder, but it doesn’t take long to set up. I like that it has a handle so she can carry it up and down stairs on her own without a problem. It’s sturdy, slides well, and makes at-home practice much more effective. ... show more

  • Need strength to place rubber band in place, may need wax for plastic board
My hockey-loving son LOVES this product. It was so easy to set up that he actually did it on his own, except for the rubber band attachment. To attach the rubber band, you’ll need some hand strength because you have to reeeeally stretch the band to get it on. I took one star off because the plastic board isn’t as slippery as we had thought, and the instructions direct the buyer to wax the board. Well, we don’t have any wax, so we just have to do what he can with what we’ve got. It still works well for shooting—much better than our carpet! We are just casual hockey enthusiasts, so I’m not sure how avid players would feel about it. For our purposes, we have enjoyed it, and it allows my son to play and shoot indoors without tearing up my carpet. ... show more

  • Practice!
I got this training pad for my kid and it has been such a great investment. The synthetic ice surface is the perfect size for them to work on shooting, passing, and stickhandling. The puck glides just like it would on real ice, which makes practice at home much more effective. The built-in passer is their favorite part because it keeps the puck coming back, so they can keep shooting and passing without stopping. The pad is really sturdy and holds up well even with daily use. I also like how it has handles that make it easy to move and store when practice is done. This has been a huge help for my kid’s skill development and confidence on the ice. Highly recommend it for any young hockey player. ... show more

  • Smooth, slick surface, great for solo training
The media could not be loaded. Make sure you heed the measurements in the listing because this is a bit smaller than I was expecting. It works for us though since I ordered it for my son who is 8 years old. He's the one showing off his skills in the video. It was only our second day owning this and he was already catching on to using it pretty easily. This synthetic ice surface is even slicker than our artificial ice squares. We have the type that clicks together to form a practice area. Between the slick surface and the rebound strap this unit has fast action which is excellent for reflexes and mimicking ice time. As others have noted attaching the band takes a little bit of strength, there's a lot of tension. Fortunately, the nuts and bolts provided are sturdy enough to hold up and everything feels solid once it's tightened up. This might be the best compact training item we have for off-ice practice. ... show more
