The bookshelf is very good quality with great finishes . It was a breeze to assembly and once everything is tightened up , seems sturdy enough to be able to handle anything you might want to store on it . The shelves themselves are thick enough and with a great looking and quality finish . The reinforcing ties that go into the back add to the stability and also improve the looks of it . We looked at several shelves but chose this one mainly for it's look , flexibility on making smaller or bigger spaces (by removing shelves ) and mainly because the top has nothing on the laterals protruding so this makes it easier to store big items on top of them without being held back . It sits really well on flat surfaces , was no need to affix it on the wall . We liked them so much that we ended up getting another one . Nothing to complain about , great quality for the money if you need something sturdy and good looking . Recommended !

The best aspect of my review is that I have absolutely no criticisms of this product aside from one minor issue. The minor issue is that the feet are not adjustable to level the unit if you have uneven floors. I don't have that issues so its no big deal for me, but if you have an old home with wood floors, maybe find a unit with adjustable feet. As for this product, it was easy to set-up. It holds lots of my books. Its attractive. The product arrived quickly with no major flaws or damage during shipping. Don't expect it to be a high-end bookshelf, its not. Instead, its a reasonably attractive bookshelf with laminate shelves that offers a good value to the user. If you live in a mansion, its not for you.

I bought this set to replace a cheaper one that fell apart when I tried to move it that I got from a shop that has 'always low' prices, and it was everything I hoped it would be. If you're worried about the sturdiness, don't be, let me run down some things that make this worth the extra cash over the cheaper units that are actual garbage: The frame is actual, welded metal. Everything is attached by thick screws. The back brace is also metal and covers both halves of the unit that go together. The two halves attach by slotting the bars into each other and screwing them together. Nothing is just resting together with fasteners, there's an actual overlapping metal joint. Another couple nice things about the kit: All the shelves are veneered on all sides, not just the top or bottom based on what's easiest to see. It includes extra screws just in case. All the parts are identical more or less, so it goes together super easily. (e.g. left and right sides are the same parts, all the shelves barring the top which is wider, are identical). If you want to avoid wasting money and time on a garbage bookcase/shelving unit that's held together by literal cardboard nailed to the back (coughMainstays), just get this. You'll be glad you spent the extra 60 or so bucks later on, believe me.

I have an office nook in the living area of my one bedroom loft and use the area as well as a photography studio. I wanted shelves to hold most of the office materials and the smaller photography apparatuses. This works well. BACKGROUND: I'm a 78 year old disabled man who doesn't see well and I have almost no carpentry skills. So when I read from some reviewers that the shelves might be a two person assembly, I was concerned. But I liked everything else about it and ordered anyway. I'm glad I did. It wasn't the easiest assembly I've experienced, but all the materials were packed and labeled. The directions were clear and simple. I had a power drill available and used it a bit, but I really didn't need it. Assembly took me longer than it would someone more adept, but I was pleased with the job when I'd finished. STURDY: It doesn't shake or shimmy or wiggle. No jokes, please. If it weren't for a very inquisitive cat, I would put heavy glassware on the top shelf. It's that good. I'm glad I bought the shelves, would recommend them to friends, and might very likely buy them again.
