Something of note is that the sensor (black component) seems very slightly taller/longer than the LED. I've set the sensor with a 5.1kΩ or 2.25kΩ pulldown on the 'long leg' and direct to power on the "short leg" and you can get a reading as the voltage level goes low on the 'long leg'. I am still learning about these which are apparently photodiodes, and have not seen much literature on how to use these. But I can say the 'long leg' output will rise to high voltage when exposed to PWM at the appropriate light wavelength/frequency. ... show more

Although they didn't work for the intended project, (no fault on the product). They will come in handy for future projects. I gave 5 stars because the customer service at HiLetgo was outstanding. took two tries, thees have a lower voltage drop so use a 180 resistor in series with the emitter or it will only last for about a week.
