Oh my! Excellent product; excellent quality!!!! I had no idea that reading glasses came in strengths other then what is carried by drug stores, but here they are on Amazon! I have been wearing varying strength and style headpieces to pursue my art in beading as well as other disciplines. It’s rare to find a headset visor that is comfortable and good enough quality that it doesn’t fall promptly apart. They also look stupid. But I need stronger magnification than what is provided by my prescription glasses or readily available reader strengths because of the minuscule materials I use. I was on the hunt for yet another magnifying visor style when I ran across these glasses. Readers on Amazon are apparently available up to at least 12x magnification. I bought these in two different strengths, not knowing which one might work for me. (They both did). And when I tried them out pursuing my artwork, it was like I had gone to heaven! They are light, the lens quality is excellent, and I just look like another person who needs glasses to do my work. I will never buy a magnifying headset again! A big thanks to the supplier... I purchased the 5x hoping to use for computer work and reading music on a piano. I expected to focal distance (distance between eyes and object being read) would be adjusted so that normal computer work, at least, would be possible. Not so. The focal distance for these was six inches, and with very little range before blurring. At 8 inches, blurry, at 15 inches, unreadable. So beware. So these are virtually useless unless I look at something only a few inches from my nose. In short, these are simple magnifying lenses with a shrinking focus range the higher the magnification. A 2x might give me the range for computer work but without much magnification. What I'm looking for is significant magnification at 24 inches or so and readable focus from 18 to 30 inches. These aren't even close, even though they are built well enough to last. ... show more

I recently purchase 5.0+ glasses. The 5.0+ refers to diopters as several others have stated. I did a lot of research to figure out which number diopter to choose. It depends on how well you currently see. Read the following article. Google it. "Eyeglasses for Close-up Work Close-up glasses ... - TuneLab". You have to figure out how many diopters you need to see well at some close up distance. You eyeglass prescription is the best thing to use. I didn't have one so I guessed according to the chart in the article based on my age. It worked well. I'm going to buy another stronger pair because I'm guessing there are some cases where I'll need to see at a closer distance. But use the paper I referred to as it will take out all the guess work. Regarding everything else, the glasses are well made, fit well, and delivered pronto. A glass case would have been nice but I have extra ones and found one that fit very well with no trouble. My need for these is in my shop doing metal working. Lots of dirt. I want the glasses to stay clean and unscratched. Good luck! ... show more

I bought the 4x version some time ago, and just purchased the 5x version. I have been surprised at how much better these glasses are than trying to manipulate a magnifying glass. When you need to see something tiny, and it helps to have both hands free, these are a must. For example, threading a needle, or trying to remove a small splinter with tweezers. The lenses seem to be good quality, and the frames are sturdy. I find them quite comfortable, but your mileage may vary. The glasses have a number of bad reviews, because you have to hold what you are looking at just a few inches from your eyes. On the one hand, I feel that this is an unfair criticism by people who don't understand magnifying glasses--that's just how they work. On the other hand, these are sold as "reading glasses," and most people won't be comfortable using them for long periods. ... show more

DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK! i Opened the box and tried these 5.0 glasses on and every thing was blurred from a distance of 10 inches or less and beyond this distance, vision was even worst. I currently use 3.0 read glasses and can see 10 time better than with the grinder Punch Blue Light glasses.

Bought this as a gift for person to use for determining fine detail on cross stitch graphs and for finding errors on stitched graphs. Also helpful in reading fine print. This has worked well! Please note though that depth of field (how far items are in focus) is a very short distance and is good for only closely held work. ... show more
