Description

NATIONAL BESTSELLER An up-close portrait of the mind of an addict and a life unraveled by narcotics—a memoir of captivating urgency and surprising humor that puts a human face on the opioid crisis. Tiffany’s story continues in the New York Times bestseller A Clean Mess, available now! “Raw, brutal, and shocking. Move over, Orange Is the New Black.”—Amy Dresner, author of My Fair Junkie When word got out that Tiffany Jenkins was withdrawing from opiates on the floor of a jail cell, people in her town were shocked. Not because of the twenty felonies she’d committed, or the nature of her crimes, or even that she’d been captain of the high school cheerleading squad just a few years earlier, but because her boyfriend was a Deputy Sherriff, and his friends—their friends—were the ones who’d arrested her. A raw and twisty page- turning memoir that reads like fiction, High Achiever spans Tiffany’s life as an active opioid addict, her 120 days in a Florida jail where every officer despised what she’d done to their brother in blue, and her eventual recovery. With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery. Tiffany breaks through the stigma and silence to offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling the disease—whether it’s a loved one or themselves. • High Achiever is a must-read for anyone who values real, raw, and redemptive storytelling.
Format: Paperback
High Achiever: The Incredible True Story of One Addict’s Double Life by Tiffany Jenkins. I've been a longtime follower of Tiffany Jenkins through her hilarious and heartfelt social media presence on Juggling the Jenkins. After years of enjoying her honest and often hilarious content, I finally decided to dive into her first book—and I’m so glad I did. High Achiever is a gripping, honest account of Tiffany’s battle with addiction, the double life she led, and her eventual road to recovery. I’d seen glimpses of her past in her videos and posts, but this book lays it all out with unflinching honesty. It tells the story of how, just after finishing rehab, spiraled back into addiction all while living with her boyfriend—who was, incredibly, a sheriff’s deputy. She recounts the crimes she committed to fuel her addiction: stealing from her partner, pawning his possessions, even selling his firearms to a dealer. Her eventual arrest—by officers she personally knew—was as devastating as it was life-changing. Tiffany spent 120 days in jail and was then transferred to rehab, where she committed fully to turning her life around. The journey she shares is raw and emotional, with some slightly comedic undertones. Her vulnerability and resilience shine through with every chapter, and you can truly feel her transformation as you read. What makes this book even more powerful is how much of Tiffany’s personality comes through. I could imagine her awkward interactions and the unique way she narrates even the most difficult experiences. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and that’s what makes her story so impactful—not just for people in recovery, but for anyone who’s faced hardship or self-doubt. I still remember the first video I saw of Tiffany—her struggling through a workout with self-deprecating humor—and I instantly thought, This woman is my spirit animal. Her content has always felt authentic, and this book is no different. With her second book on the horizon (which I’ve already preordered 😊), I’m eager to see what she shares next—especially as she’s hinted at the major life changes she’s experienced since 2020, to which we got a small glimpse in real-time through social media. Watching her continue to grow, prioritize her physical and emotional health, and inspire others makes me even more of a fan. One day, I hope to attend one of her live events! Rating: 5 stars. Tiffany Jenkins is a force, and High Achiever is a must-read for anyone who values real, raw, and redemptive storytelling. ... show more

  • **WARNING** Addictive Author Ahead!!!
Format: Paperback
In the six straight hours that this book held my unwavering attention, I became an addict; the urge and craving to read more from Tiffany Jenkins is almost unbearable. Tiffany Jenkins is by far the most powerful writer I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and I am an avid reader. This book is REAL. In the six hours from the time I opened this book until the time I read the last word, I laughed, I cried, I became angry, I felt disgust, I experienced hormonal fluctuations (yep, I am keeping it clean), I felt empathy and sympathy, I cheered for and against Tiffany, and by the end, I was left in absolute awe over the brilliance of this book. Tiffany is painfully honest about what she went through to become the awesome person she is today, and her story is skillfully told so that the book is a page-turner. Simply put, this is a beautifully written story of love, heartbreak, addiction, betrayal, friendship, and recovery, all while lending a view to the ugly the insides of our penal and legal systems, wrapped up in a beautifully written mystery/thriller/romance novel. I have never read a 369 page book in one sitting, but I did today. I will not go into detail about the book itself, because I cannot do Tiffany justice because I could never tell her story better than her. I do not care what type book you prefer to read, I assure you this one will not leave you disappointed. I read almost every genre of book, and have read hundreds. This one wins by a landslide!! Go ahead and click that "Buy Now" button, and while you are at it, buy a few more copies for friends and loved ones to save yourself the trouble of having to come back and do it later. I'm going to go try to find my kids now as that movie I put in six hours ago is probably over by now. ;-) ... show more

  • So worth the read!
Format: Kindle
First of all, judging by certain reviews, I believe if you're not an addict/know an addict, or if you're not struggling with some sort of mental illness, or if you're just not a compassionate person, then this book probably isn't for you. (But you should read it anyway!) Juggling the Jenkins popped up on my FB newsfeed some time or another. I wish I remembered the specific video. Either way, I kept watching her videos and kept laughing. Then the video of her telling her story popped up, I believe she was wearing a red top in this specific video. I'm not an addict, but that video spoke to me. I've struggled with depression as long as I can remember. Apart from addiction I feel as if she's me, not in a weird psycho way, just a "wow, I'm not alone" way. And it's amazing. Several months ago I was watching one of her live videos, and my husband said "hey, do you ever say anything on there to her?" Referring to Tiffany and the comments. "Oh, no way!" He looked at me and said "well you should". For a second I felt lighter, like that would be pretty cool to have the opportunity to have a direct response, but anxiety set in and I didn't know how to explain it to him, but I'm just not comfortable commenting on public posts. Fear, anxiety, paranoia... all that jazz. Point being I love her videos, I relate to them. So I had to give this book a read! Since the price was marked at 9.99 I just downloaded the sample last night. For me $10 is a lot with Christmas around the corner. I flew through the sample, turned to my husband and said "heyyy, can I spend $10" he laughed, he knew, he didn't mind. That was around midnight. I finally put the book down because it was closing in on 3am this morning. I finished it just a while ago, so I read it in two sittings. This book, her story, had me laughing at her awkward responses, so many times I've been in that position. This book had me crying a handful of times too because I was there, some instances being in an empathetic way, but other instances hit really close to home for me. Addiction is all around us. Even if some of us don't see it, it's there. Addiction has been around me my whole life. It's affected my family, family friends, sometimes you can see it, but sometimes you can't. I related to so much of the content, but the most was the memory. For a split second I thought "how can she remember some of this so clearly?" Then I remembered. It's the mental illness. The depression. The guilt. It doesn't let you forget. It won't let you to forget. I think that's why I'm always so tired. Always wanting a nap to forget for a little while. Some reviews criticize her addiction story, only wanting her recovery story, but you have to get through the addiction to reach the recovery. Just like life, you have to get through the bad stuff to appreciate the good stuff. Admitting that I wholeheartedly enjoyed this book makes me feel a bit guilty because that's someone's past, someone reality, it's not here for anyone's amusement, but it didn't amuse me, it just made me feel less alone. It's here to help people and raise awareness, and I believe Tiffany succeeded. ... show more

  • Enjoyable but didnt blow me away
Format: Paperback
I am a mental health professional that works with a substance abuse population. I have recently started to try and read some books that may give me a new perspective on addiction (since i work with addiction every day but have never had my own battle with it). I felt that this book was a good story. However, I didnt think the writing was great. I honestly have just picked up the hobby of reading for pleasure...so its not like i know a lot about great writing. For example, she uses "so quiet you could hear a pin drop" at least four different times in this book (maybe even 5 times this was used to describe a room or certain situation). I think that for this to be a true story, it is incredible. I would recommend it to my female patients to read for pleasure. It should be OK for the male reader, but i think it would be more identifiable for females. I would not recommend this book for a snooty reader who needs great writing. i probably would not recommend this book to someone who had absolutely no connect with addiction. I would worry that someone who is new in their recovery reading this book may be a trigger. It may romanticize the feeling of drugs. Maybe for a female that is feeling secure in her recovery journey. Over all, i did feel it gave me some new insight on what the mind of an addict is like and how withdrawal plays a big role. ... show more

  • Relatable True Grit Content- A MUST Read!
Format: Paperback
For various reasons, I read a lot of books about addiction - whether drugs (various types) or food (binge, purge or not eat at all) and mental illnesses, including cutting, Schizophrenia, bipolar and even multiple personality disorders. I don’t read clinical books. I read memoirs. For the most part almost every memoir begins with various forms of the addiction; the highs and the lows, the ins and the outs, and then in all honesty, they get boring when the person gets better. I always questioned whether it just served some type of purpose in me to read when they were going through all the crap, since I feel like I’ve never perfected my life. When they started to get better, that’s when I found it all boring. I’m glad for them, but it tends to be a predictable boring read. This particular book, grabbed me by the throat pretty much from the first two pages. The author writes much how you would expect anybody to talk and she always put in a funny sentence that one would most likely think at the time. I totally related to who she was, not so much the path she was on, but that she was so honest and that it was easy to see when she was sort of being irrational because of the drugs and the poor choices that she made. She rationalized the things she did, but she was so completely human and relatable. I really wanted to write a review by the first chapter, but forced myself to wait. I was bummed when it ended. As I read the short bio at the end of the book, I realized that she was someone that I saw on Tik Tok! Naturally I went back and watched every single video she made on there and that’s when I really realized she’s wicked funny and super real. I was already following her on that app, so she must’ve made me laugh at some point. Whether you’re an addict, or were an addict or not even one at all, you will find this book crazy-good. This is an incredibly worthy read. You know it’s a good book when you think really hard about who you could give this book to, without offending someone or even insinuating they have a problem, but more for it’s relatable true grit content. I’m completely honest when I say that I will never forget this book and there’s a really good chance I’ll read it again. To the author, I will tell her hands down it was the one of the best, well written book I’ve read! ... show more

  • Worth 20 stars
Format: Kindle
Tiffany's raw honesty with her personality and humor makes this the best book I've read for a long time, and I've read A LOT of books. I teared up multiple times, along with out loud wtf's! This is that book you don't want to put down and stay up way past bedtime to read knowing you've got an early work alarm. In recovery myself I know the importance of keeping it real, open and honest and this book went above and beyond courageous. I've got several other kindle books to read but only one I care to read us her next book. Lol ... show more

  • BUY IT NOW!!!! Like right now!
Format: Paperback
First off, I am a “non-reader,” I almost never read for fun and hate reading for school. BUT I made a goal to read 10 books this year and this was my first buy. And OH MY GOSH IM OBSESSED!!!! This was absolutely the best book I could have picked to get back into reading. Tiffany Jenkins is an amazing author. She is so casual yet thoughtful with her words and it’s like you’re in her mind and living through it while reading. Not only is this a well-written book, it is such a gripping and intense story. I would get looks from my family members because I would literally be laughing or gasping out loud (I may have even teared up once or twice). She is so funny and candid and brutally honest with her experience, it was like I was reading through the most amazing movie script. I seriously cannot express how much I love this book. It usually would take me months and months to finish a book and this took me 7 DAYS, and I’m a slow reader!!! I came home everyday from work so excited to read the next chapter - lots of cliffhangers and I just got so enveloped in her story. I was so sad when it ended because I wanted to keep reading!! I would recommend this book with my whole heart to people wanting to get back into reading and anyone who just wants an amazing book. ... show more
