This is a really fun toy that you do have to take the time to put together and build. All the items are either plastic, cardboard and stickers. There isn't a set of directions like a manual, however, the directions are actually on the box which I didn't notice until after I already built it by looking at the box. The "food items" are made out of cardboard which you just fold and lock in. The plastic containers are all blank and you need to put the stickers on them. I ordered this for my 3 and 4 year old sons and they absolutely love it. I struggled a little bit with the assembly, as no sheet instructions are included, but I later found out they were on the bottom of the box and you have to fold all of the boxes. I wish the paper money would be bigger and that it would have included a storage spot for them under the register or something. They material of paper was also very thin so I went ahead and laminate them (using tape) to make them a big sturdier. ... show more

This supermarket set is two playsets in one, the supermarket part of it of course but then there's assembly activity too. And yes, I'm saving that for the kids to do, they'll love it because they'll be able to say that they helped make it. Building it with the kids is a great way to teach them how to read and follow instructions as well. There is so much that goes with this playset with the cash register that makes two sounds, one for the scale and one for the cash register (requires two AA batteries, not included). Then there's all the grocery items you can ring up with the scanner which makes a grocery store scanner sound (requires two AAA batteries, not included) and the play money bills and coins to pay for the groceries. Pretend toys are my favorite and I thought this little cash register set was great. I got it for a great-niece and was told she loved it. I thought all the different items that came with this were so cool. Back when my kids were little (eons ago) they had the cash register and a little play money. For good or bad we have become a ton more complicated but this looks like it can still be super fun and get the brain going. Anything other than a computer game is a win for me! ... show more

This is a great set. The instructions are on the bottom of the box. Easy to assemble. This looks great in their little "mini mart". I don't see the cardboard boxes lasting, so I clear taped all of them. The money is small, and no place to store it. Everything was included as described. The register, etc seems durable, and made of good quality plastic. The register and scanner both need batteries. NOT INCLUDED. Overall, nice set. Educational. My kiddos loved it. This toy has been a blast for my son to play with. For some reason he is obsessed with going grocery shopping and now he can help out at home! This keeps him busy and pretends with the checkout process and he is loving it. I got this for my 6 year old nephew who loves to play pretend shopping, etc. He absolutely loves this set. It's fairly straighforward to setup, there are quite a few pieces it comes with. It's pretty typical/standard playset type quality, it seems durable. It was a bit smaller than I expected it to be. I wish it was slightly largers, but it's not a deal breaker as that fits fine within his play area. Now he has a register to check out when he's going "shopping". It's a great set for any toddler, and will keep them engaged for a long time. The many different items to "buy" is a great, and also lets them figure out how they want to everything laid out for the check out. This pretend cash register is so cool. It comes with a scanner that really works, a cash draw with coins and dollars. It also comes with a great assortment of play food. This playset is so great for my grandkids. It teaches hand eye coordination. Counting, colors, and identification. My grand kids cannot get enough of this.
