Let me began by saying that I have worn Hi-Tec boots for over twenty years. I have yet to be disappointed in their durability. I was disappointed in the finish on the leather. I thought they would have a finish that could be polished since I wear them out and not just to hike or work in. But it seems as if Hi-Tec has changed the leather finish so I too must adapt. I've been buying HI-TEC boots for about 2 decades. The ONLY issue I have ever had with them, is the shoelaces break (usually at the most inconvenient times) too much, too soon. Our local Fred Meyer's store, here in the PNW, has stopped supplying the HI-TEC brand, and since these are the only boot that fits my peculiar foot shape, I have resorted to shop online. ... show more

Best boots I have ever had for hunting. Extremely comfortable, completely waterproof and hold up without incident. The soles wear out before anything else. This is a must buy. Boot size is true to size.

They are very flexible/have a soft sole compared with other European-made and more expensive boots, somehow too warm for summer. Have to wait a couple of years to check durability.

I replaced a pair of boots costing 50% more with these. I was happy with my previous boots, but I was disappointed in how quickly the outsoles wore out. I got one year out of them, and the uppers were still perfect, but the soles could no longer grip rock and were unsafe, even though the name on the soles was Vibram. So I wanted to see if I could spend less and still get a year of use. It looks like I will. I had to replace the laces (flimsy), the insoles (uncomfortable), and sew a small seam that let go (see picture) but overall I'm satisfied with these boots after 8 months of use and I'm confident that they will last a full year and maybe a little more. I am a construction boss and I have been wearing the ancestors of this boot for many years. I almost bought this one about 4 years ago, but have been happy with the older version for so long that I didn’t. This time around I caved and went for this modified boot. Plus- it’s comfortable out of the box, though I did think it a little tight at first. I usually end up with wide fitting which didn’t seem to be available in this style, so with fingers crossed I chose this and, IT WORKED. They’re great and with an average of 10+ miles on my feet per day, my feet don’t hurt. The only issue I have so far is that they looked like year old boots after the first day. They have a napped finish on the color I chose, and having checked again since, nowhere in the description does it state this. Also not sure how waterproof they can really be with this type of finished leather. I guess we will see. With what I know so far, would purchase again, but with a normal leather finish. ... show more

Hi tec didn't have an X wide for some time. Good to see it's back. I need a 4E and this is very comfortable. Durable and relatively lightweight. These are the best hike/work boots I've ever had.
