Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wish they offered a smaller one but this works. Mine shipped with two front plates - one labeled and one blank. The trick to getting this sturdy is twofold - one, install a board on the back of the legs to stiffen it, and two, use BOTH plates for assembly. To use both plates, you want them back to back, with the rear plate sitting below the front plate. This gives your collets a natural backward tilt. Then, use the included nuts as a jam nut against the legs. My photos and video should show how I assembled it. Feels very solid and no issues getting collets in and out, even without performing any alignment. ... show more

I bought two R8 collet racks. This one, and a very similar rack branded by JET. I prefer this one for just one reason, the finish. This has a nice hammer-tone green finish that looks much nicer than the JET (which was a rather plain gray). About the item: If you plan to carry this around full of collets - don't buy it. This is meant to stay in one place on your workbench. It is a bit flimsy, especially when filled with heavy collets. This can be used in a vertical or horizontal position. Contrary to the first item image of this listing, there are no sizes marked on the face. This arrives flat packed with 6 screws and nuts. You might need to straighten out a corner of the sheet metal here or there before or as you assemble it. This is not heavy duty. This comes unassembled. You will need a 10mm wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and a pair of pliers. The finish is ok, but it looks like it was sprayed before the metal was cleaned. Corners were really sharp. I doubt that paint will last very long. Will repaint when needed. It was dented and dinged - not in shipping as Amazon padded the box well. Two of the bolts had damaged thread and I had to chase them. The two plates do not align well and you WILL have to tweak them with a couple of collets installed and pliers before tightening everything. Even after tweaking, the edges still do not line up everywhere and all of the holes are offset in different directions. You Will have to adjust the tabs to get the bolts through or there will not be enough thread for the nut. Really not satisfied with this product for the price I paid. Bought to save time instead of cutting my own. With assembly and the rework, didn’t save any time. Save your money and pass on this one. ... show more

Wasn’t expecting much, but I do not suggest buying this product. The labeling is poor and misprinted and the collets/tools do not sit well. They ride on the chafer edge so they do not like to sit flat.

So the two layers are not needed if you box the open sides in its a lot more sturdy. I attached mine to the wall it's solid as a rock. I was going to make my own from 1/4" aluminium plate but it's a lot of time for no reason. Also mine came labeled with the sizes in white writing.
