I gave this product a 5 star because it does the job and seems to hold a lot of weight for just two brackets. I replaced the screws (the ones it came with seemed light and weak) because this will be the weakest link. I seen others that don’t need to be screwed down and hang over if you can’t screw them down then get the ones that have the hanging bracket.

Since 2005 I have wanted window boxes on three of the four windows that face the street. The windows are different sizes so I decided to have the window boxes built. Prior to hiring someone, I wanted to determine the best way to prevent damage to the lapsiding. The best method seemed to be using pressure-treated wood beneath the window. Attach the brackets about six inches from the end of the board (1x8 board) rather than the lapsiding. You want the window box at least the width of the windows for the best visual appeal. I could not explain exactly what I wanted until I had braces that I planned to use and a good mental picture. I am planning on using corbels as well. This will add additional support as well as enhance the look of the window boxes. I don't know if the board is really necessary, as I saw many examples of using just braces. If you use the braces alone, be sure to caulk the holes you drill prior to installing the screws to protect them from moisture. I hope you enjoy your window boxes as much I believe I will enjoy mine!

These are good quality brackets, and they are very useful for mounting stuff on the wall. I used them to mount a few trash cans. They hold up great and won't block the way when my robot vacuum is in use. Now there is more space to put things in my small room.
